The sweet and loveable Lassy is seeking a special foster home with a view to adopt
Meet the lovely Lassy, she's a shorter size Golden Lab weighing 35 kilos of loveable sweetness.
Lassy is a typical lab, fun loving, happy, smiley, waggy tail kinda girl who loves to be around her human pack
She’s looking for a home where she can get numerous tummy rubs, daily walks and of course lots of love ❤️

FOSTER WITH VIEW TO ADOPT HOME

Poor Lassy. The mummy of many pups, was used as a breeding machine and her health was neglected. She arrived at AK9 with chronic untreated ear infections leading her to having cauliflower ears from chronic infections leaving her with very tight ear canals.
As AK9 do, Lassy got the much needed treatment, having surgery to both ears to try and improve her hearing and lessen her infection risks. Lassys ears are still a little swollen and we now have to monitor her for longer to see if she improves so therefore we are looking for a long term foster carer who will take care of this gorgeous girl with a view to adopt in the future.

Medical
Lassy has had both of her ears opened up and removal of the swollen tissue. One ear has been a great success and the other one is still too swollen inside to tell how it will heal
If she does start getting more ear infections she will need to have another surgery to open it up and have it cleared again.
We will pay for this surgery if this surgery is required.

Interactions with humans /Inside the home
Lassy likes anyone willing to give her a pat, and within seconds will be on her back, offering her tummy. She loves her big jelly belly being rubbed by anyone willing
She will lie next to you on the couch if you let her but will not come into the room until you call her in - even if the door is open.
After a little while though, you might find her back in her favourite spot out the back room on the doggy couch
Obedience and training
Lassy knows her name, and outdoors has shown good recall once she is familiar with her owner. She understands ‘No' or frown in her direction will have her lying her her back - her apology gesture / get-out-of-jail free card!. Lassy knows sit/come She is a calm dog, no jumping and doesn't do any sort of mouth-play / biting.
Exercise and Animal Social skills
Lassy needs a daily walk. She loves to sniff every blade of grass, every bush, every tree reading the daily news from start to finish. She can be a bit strong on the lead so we have found a no pull harness suits her best on her walks. She initially seemed unhappy being around other dogs but the reason for this could be she was on heat when she arrived in rescue. She has now been desexed and seems a lot happier with an improved temperament around other dogs. She has been socialised with numerous dogs, and is happy as long as they are not in her face. She enjoys a good run around and sniff, does not really instigate play more of a how do you do and move on scenario. She has attempted to play chase a kelpie who well and truly out ran our voluptuous girl. Anyway good way to work off some calories
As she does not like dogs right up and in her face we are seeking a pet free home and we are seeking a home that can contunie to work on her social skills in a controlled situation.
Food
Unlike other Lab's, Lassie isn't a big foodie. She will leave her dry food for when she is hungry, snacking during the day.
She is very gentle and polite in taking treats from fingers.
Currently being fed dry food and prime roll. She is a little on the heavy side so regular exercise is a must
Lassy likes treats, especially cow hooves
Travel
Lassy travels extremely well in the car and loves to look out the windows.
She has been noted to sit up on her generous rump with one paw up on the sill like a queen as she is chauffeured around. She is happy to jump in and out the car
Independence
Lassy is settled outside on her own. She will wander about snuffling, but will eventually find a spot close to the back door so her kennel is placed close to the house and she is quite content to snooze the day away.
Her carer works away from the home, Lassy is content to be outside alone, you will be welcomed home with lots of tail wags
She has not shown any destructive traits and does not bark excessively
Hygiene.
Lassy is fully toilet trained. When out and about she will wee on everything letting the local dogs know her daily news.
Lassy has the usual lab boat, moderate malting
Lassy will need a close eye kept oh her ears for infection
She at times will shake her head from irritation
