About Oli
Introducing Oli, a 3-year-old deaf red cattle dog. Oli's unexpected journey brought her to a local vet clinic, where her owners initially considered euthanising her due to her excessive barking. It's difficult to comprehend, as Oli was simply expressing her natural dog behavior, longing for the mental and physical stimulation she needed. However, a stroke of fortune came Oli's way when the compassionate vet nurse persuaded her owners to surrender her instead.
Oli, although initially unsure of new environments, blossoms into her true self once she feels safe and secure. With the right environment, her barking can be effectively managed. Oli thrives in the company of someone who desires a loyal companion and spends most of their time at home, actively involving her in their day-to-day activities.
Oli loves being around children but can be a bit too exuberant and jumpy, especially with younger ones. Therefore, a family with older kids would be preferable. She has lived with cats indoors and was well on her way to learning to ignore them. However, we suggest a home without small pets or chickens.
She enjoys playing with other dogs but can be a bit rough and impolite during initial meetings. Small dogs are not recommended, but larger dogs can be introduced slowly and with care. It's important for Oli's new family to supervise her playtime and help her understand acceptable levels of interaction. Oli thrives as either the only dog in the household or alongside another calm and well-trained larger male.
Oli has a strong love for food, which aids in her training. Additionally, she is incredibly affectionate—a true love bug! She adores people and will go to great lengths to get their attention. Oli loves cuddling and will happily snuggle up with you in bed, sleeping right by your side. She is outgoing and loves to explore new places and meet new people, particularly if it involves a car ride! Swimming is also one of her favorite activities.
In terms of training, Oli is making excellent progress with the basics. She knows commands such as sit, stay (sometimes), and come, and has even learned to shake hands. She is house and crate trained and is almost fully proficient in mat training. Currently, she is learning not to pull on the leash. Oli is curious and has a tendency to get into things, so you'll need to stay alert. However, she is eager to learn and picks up new things quickly. She is highly active and enjoys climbing and jumping, making her an ideal candidate for agility training. Ensuring that Oli's mental and physical needs are met is crucial for her new family to maintain a non-issue with excessive barking.
If you're searching for a companion to share your days with, whether it's going for walks on the beach, embarking on adventures, or simply curling up with you on the couch while enjoying pizza and watching Netflix, Oli is undoubtedly the perfect match.

Final step * Once the 14-day' settling in' period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted, and the adoption is officially finalised.
