About Bonnie
Bonnie prefers gentle adult females, with a chilled attitude. She takes a while to warm up to a new person - but if you don't take it personally, and just let her be her independent self - she will warm up. Or she may just love you right away! She makes up her own mind!
She will either follow you around from room to room, or will ignore you for the day and sleep! As long as she knows she has access to you then she'll do her own thing - look out the window, sit in the sunlight, have a nap, or cuddle up with you.
She is independent and does well home alone. She is very scared of thunder, fireworks etc. The only thing that sometimes works is wrapping her up like a swaddling baby and holding her close... but that sometimes doesn't work.
Even though she's little, she will defend her chosen female. She's been known to catch rats, but ignores mice. She enjoys squeaky toys but sometimes doesn't. She makes up her own mind!
Tricks she knows - sit, shake, lay down, beg. She doesn't like roll over. Schmakos are her absolute favourite treat!
BBQ chook is the way to her heart, and is the only food she has very rarely refused. She can be a bit fussy with her food, but if you add BBQ chook to it she usually cleans her plate.
She doesn't need constant attention or cuddles, but is fiercely loyal to her chosen human.
She has her own little fluffy bed. Some nights she sleeps on it, some nights she likes to sleep on the bed, sometimes under the bed covers, and sometimes she'll sleep in the loungeroom alone. As long as she can access her human at night she's good.
She hates car rides - will pant and shake - but as soon as the car stops she's excited to explore the new place. I have found if she can see out of the window this lessens somewhat.
She loves the beach and the water. She also loves a walk on the lead, and adores stopping to sniff... but will tell you when she's had enough, and has been known to run back home as soon as we turn around to head back. If she's in the mood she's been known to walk for an hour quite happily.
She used to be ok with cats, but one scratched her eye 2 years ago, and since then she's quite aggressive with them.
She gets along with most dogs - sometimes she just ignores them, sometimes she plays with the smaller ones - it's really an individual basis thing - she's been known to play with puppies she encounters, running around gleefully - and other times with other puppies she shows no interest. She once stayed at a house with a Great Dane for 3 months and they became like sisters - slept together, went everywhere together... It's really just an individual dog thing I think.
She's been a loyal friend, a sweetheart, a protector, and a source of many laughs and joyful times.-
