Wanda - 4 Month Old Jack Russel(On Trial 12/11/22)

Wanda is 4 month old lively little lady who loves spending her day playing with her foster sister, going on walks, and cuddling on the lounge with her foster family.
She is one of four Jack Russell x Kelpie puppies who came into foster care as very young pups. While two of her siblings have already found their forever homes Wanda is still looking for her perfect fit.

She is a very intelligent girl who since being in foster care with us has mastered toilet training and is learning some basic commands such as sit, wait, stop. Wanda is food motivated and therefore very responsive to training. She also loves playing with her squeaky toys and playing tug-o-war with her foster sister.

Wanda generally walks well on a lead but can pull at times and therefore requires on-going training in this area. She will sometimes jump when she gets excited, especially when meeting new people. Her foster family is working on this, and this will need to be continued in her new home.

Wanda’s ideal forever family would be an active couple or a family with older children. Wanda is probably not suited to families with children under 8 years of age as she is a puppy and is still learning boundaries. She gets along with other dogs and would love an active furry brother or sister to play with and learn from.

Being a puppy, she would benefit from having someone at home more than not. Wanda sleeps inside and would like this to continue in her new home. However, she is fine to be outside for short periods during the day if she has access to an undercover area and a cozy bed. She requires a secure backyard to play and release some of her puppy energy in a suburban environment.

Wanda did spend the first few months of her life on a farm and has had some exposure to farm animals. However, she would need on-going training and exposure to learn how to behave around farm animals.

Wanda will mostly likely grow to be a smallish medium sized dog. Due to her unique mix of breed, she would benefit from being adopted by a family who has previous experience or knowledge of working breeds and understands the daily physical and mental demands of these breeds. She is currently untested with cats and pocket pets.

Wanda is in foster care in the Gillieston Heights, NSW. They are not currently available for interstate adoption. The adoption fee is $700.00 and they are vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and microchipped.

As Wanda is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she will need to be returned to a DRN approved vet for desexing when she is approximately 5-6 months old. Please NO out of area applications.

This organisation's adoption policy is moderate. What does this mean?

(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire: https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
(2) If the questionnaire is approved we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've applied for.
(3) After that we will arrange for you to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home, nearby park or your home.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
