About Max
Hi! I’m Max and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR MAX
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM

NOTE: You are unable to meet Max until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Max in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ BEFORE COMPLETING AN APPLICATION FORM
Max is EXTREMELY FEARFUL of the world but is slowly coming out of his shell. Max needs a home with a very patient family who will allow him to grow in confidence in his own time. It may take months for Max to even come to you for a pat, this is not a quick fix situation.
For example, basic things like trees/bushes blowing in the wind or washing on the line scare me.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• I am extremely timid in new situations such as entering a building/home. I MUST have a family who'll allow me inside so I can see it isn't a scary place and to allow my confidence to grow.
• A doggie playmate is a MUST as I'm much happier and confident when I'm hanging out with a friendly playful dog.
• I arrived at the shelter as a stray so my history is unknown. Due to this, my interaction with cats that are free roaming in the house or yard is completely unknown. There can be no guarantee that I will be ok living with cats, so it is recommended that I don’t go to a home that has them.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• A quiet household is best for me while I'm still learning how to cope with the world.
• No children as I am way too fearful of sudden movements and noises.
• TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING. It's ESSENTIAL I receive training in all aspects of my life so I can be the best dog I can be when I'm older.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Children, due to my extremely timid personality.
My best features:
• Gentle & placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans when I get to know you, which may take awhile
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I'm learning to walk on the harness at the shelter and am getting much better. I'm still slow and fearful but with lots of practice I should soon look forward to a daily stroll around the neighbourhood. However, I must be very secure in my harness as if I get scared and manage to get away, I will just run out of fear.
