Hey everyone, my name is Margot! Don't I have the most magical eyes? People say they could get lost gazing into them.
While you're here, please let me tell you a bit about myself -
I am an intelligent, happy and loving girl with a bright personality, and my lack of hearing doesn't stop me from living an amazing and fun life! My carer has taught me basic commands using sign language, and I love to learn. Some of the commands I know include: sit, down, wait, paw, up, heel and walk on - and I love learning more! I have recently been introduced to scent training as well which I love and have caught on to very quickly. It's such a fun game and keeps my brain active.
My adopter should know that I am great at reading body language, hand signals and enjoy having a 'safe place' like any dog does. Place training, as with most dogs, will make me feel stable and secure. You can get my attention by using a torch, or lightly stomping on the floor so that I feel vibration. As with other dogs, it's not best to sneak up behind me and startle me! I don't bark often but when I do, you'll notice it's a little higher in pitch than other dogs- very common in deaf dogs as we can't hear ourselves! I have not been to dog parks as they are a bit chaotic for most dogs, and even more so for a deaf one!
But there is so much more to me than being deaf. I have a bright personality and just want to be loved. During the day I love to spend some time sun baking with doggy sunscreen on of course, playing with tug ropes and the other dogs, and chasing the tennis ball. I love cuddles with my humans and love kids although can forget my size sometimes with smaller kids and accidentally knock them over. At night time I am content to sleep outside with the other dogs.
I would love to have a rotation of good quality toys and puzzles, and to continue learning tricks so that I can use up all my brain power on the right things. No one enjoys being bored. Pack walks with my whole family are one of my favourite things to do. I would also love adventures outside of the yard 3-4 times a week, to run, sniff and roll would help keep my mind and body active! I am a social girl who has always lived with other dogs so I think I would be too lonely if I didn't have a canine sibling.
I am a mix of a mix as you can see! But we all know it's not the pedigree that matters, but our bond! I am expected to reach 30-35kg as an adult as an estimate. I would like to be behind a 5ft fence or higher so that as I grow, I am not tempted to escape the yard. Being a young dog, I am going to grow up however you allow me to- so it's important to spend your early weeks with me getting my routine and training down-pat. I am a smart pup who is a keen learner and will make you very happy.
So what do you think? Could I be the one for you?
Medical notes
Margot is deaf so needs an adopter who will commit to her sign training and confidence building.

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
