Queenie is a sweet girl who is also a cuddly, playful puppy. She’s still shy when meeting new humans of all ages and surroundings, but a bit of patience, kindness and cuddles makes a little frightened girl blossom.
Queenie loves all the pats, playtime and hugs you can give her, especially from children. She enjoys giving snuggles beside you, and jumping up to get closer to lick faces, so children old enough to teach her to behave will be suitable.
Queenie isn’t bothered by cats and leaves them alone. If one comes close, she wants to sniff out of curiosity, not chase. If they hiss at her, she leaves them alone.
She’s almost toilet-trained, but sometimes puppies forget and there is still the odd accident inside. Queenie understands going outside and that ‘wee-wee time’ is toilet time. She loves her pats and the pleased sound in her foster carer’s voice when she does her business.
Queenie is trained to eat her food in her crate. She sits for her bowl to be placed in front of her, and waiting for permission to eat is improving with every meal. At other times during the day she wanders into the open crate to rest, if she is feeling frightened or to eat a treat. She shares her foster home with other dogs and will gobble her food, then help the others eat theirs if she can.
Queenie is a cuddle muffin, loves her cuddles, tennis balls, chewing toys, in fact she’ll play with any toy she can find.
Queen is learning to walk on the lead, especially when food encourages her to do so. She has only been on walks in her yard so far. Big, noisy cars and motor bikes and barking dogs still frighten her.
She is great at recall using her name, a whistle, patting your thighs or any combination of those. Her understanding of ‘No’, ‘leave’, ‘sit’ and ‘wait’ is improving every day. She loves food and that helps with her training. Queenie enjoys baths without any fuss and prefers a towel dry instead of the noisy air dryers.
Queenie’s ideal family would include an older dog to teach her and for company. She doesn’t mind being outside for brief periods as long as there are plenty of toys and a comfortable, safe place to sleep and sunbake. Having a human home for most of the day for company would be just as nice.
Give her time to settle in, plenty of love and you’ll be rewarded with a lovely family member. She’s started on her journey to become a faithful, happy dog and is ready for adventures with her humans.
