It’s not the easiest profile for me to write, our baby Dustin boy is finally growing up and ready to move on. Dustin arrived at the sanctuary as a wild brumby foal who had been split from his mum during trapping, we estimated him to be around 6-8mths old at the time of arrival. Dustin took a few months of decompressing and learning a whole heap of new things about domesticated life before we even started to handle him. Now, 2 years later, he is one of our most affectionate and confident horses on the property - and this is what has pushed me to make the hard decision to list him up for adoption.
Everyone that has met Dustin has fallen for his cheeky antics and adorable nature. He has finished his ‘coltish’ phase and is now settling into the herd very well as a gentle gelding who is usually first in line for cuddles. Dustin has never known cruelty which means he trusts us humans completely. He needs to go to a home that will continue to love and respect him as he is, he has learned very well from positive reinforcement techniques so I’d really like his training to continue on that path - theres no need for harsh handling and force.
Dustin is an incredibly smart young man who I truly believe will become one very lucky humans best mate. He would much rather be hanging out with his human friends than doing anything else,
It’s going to break my heart to see my baby boy finally move on to his next phase of life, but he needs to be someones best friend who will love and nurture his amazing personality.
Dustin is of course not broken to saddle and he will need to spend a few more years growing before he carries any weight. I have no doubt that he will end up being an amazing ridden horse one day, but if your intention is to start him under saddle and ride him straight away before his body has matured then please don’t apply.
Preference will be given to applicants who live close by so Dustin wouldn’t have to travel a long distance, however, I’m willing to help arrange transport if the perfect home comes along and it requires him to travel.
If you think you can offer Dustin the perfect forever home, please complete an application, we would love to hear from you!

Adoption details
After rehabilitation a profile is created of the animal to help find them the perfect match. Applicants can apply via my website using the application form. A house inspection (can be virtual) is required and then a visit can be arranged. If all goes well a two week trial in their new home begins, after completion of the two weeks the adoption will be finalised.
