Charlie was quite a tricky rescue! Many of you would remember the back and forward correspondence and difficulty of getting him out of his current situation and into our care (which would have been impossible without the amazing help of some incredible humans). When he arrived he had a huge leg injury and was quite malnourished, he had been all ‘used up’ but being a classic stoic Arabian he refused to let it stop him.
Fast forward 7 months and our cheeky Charlie boy is ready to find his own special home where he can be loved and adored for just being himself as a companion. While Charlie is entirely sound and his leg doesn’t cause him any issues at all, our veterinarians all recommend that he not be ridden due to the high risk of him re-injuring or aggravating the previous injury.
Charlie has impeccable manners once haltered, through his entire rehabilitation he has barely stepped a hoof wrong even as I’ve debrided and treated his obviously painful leg. He is amazing to trim, worm, float, lead and practically catches himself. Charlie’s one naughty feature is that he can be very bossy and pushy around food (which is quite commonly seen in our rescues that have been previously starved) so he does need someone who is capable of pushing him away if he gets bossy.
Charlie doesn’t have any specific dietary requirements but he has been getting one mashed hard feed a day just to keep him happy and healthy.
Preference will be given to applicants who live close to the sanctuary in Kanimbla NSW so Charlie wouldn’t have to travel a long distance at his older age, however, for the perfect home we are happy to discuss adoptions interstate.
If you think you can offer Charlie the perfect forever home, please complete an application, we would love to hear from you! Charlie deserves a life of luxury after many, many years of being used and abused for his fantastic nature.

Adoption details
After rehabilitation a profile is created of the animal to help find them the perfect match. Applicants can apply via my website using the application form. A house inspection (can be virtual) is required and then a visit can be arranged. If all goes well a two week trial in their new home begins, after completion of the two weeks the adoption will be finalised.
