About John

This is John. How can you go wrong with a name like John??
John is a big floofy lion who is incredibly handsome and so very sweet and full of potential.
He's been in our care now for over 12 weeks and has made terrific progress. He's got lots more room to improve and grow but we know that his best will come once he is settled in a home.
John came in as a big tom cat who we're certain has fathered a lot of kittens in his time!
He's roughly 3-4 years old and may never have had a family to call his own - he seems to have been existing on the fringes of society, just barely getting by.
John has a HUGE appetite, he love love loves food â€ïž
He was totally shut down and didn't interact with anyone at all for a long time after coming into care. He sat in a corner, staring at the wall, refusing to engage.
He's come so far from that now! He makes beautiful eye contact, gives little chirpy meows and is rather demanding and slappy when he wants to be fed (which is always ...)
He's quite happy for you to touch and handle him while he's eating but is still getting used to human contact.
He's not aggressive at all, but he still spooks easily and can be really fearful.
He is looking for a patient, kind, loving person who will allow him to settle down in his own time and learn all about being part of the family.
John seems very social with other cats so should be fine to live with others - more confident cats will help him be his best!
He is FIV positive so introductions to FIV negative cats will need to be done cautiously - but we feel it can work!
(More info on FIV here: https://www.petrescue.com.au/library/articles/caring-for-cats-with-feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv)
We also believe he will be fine with dogs.
If you have little kids but they aren't that interested in being friends with a new comer cat, then that would be okay. John is used to the sounds of a toddler.
But he's definitely not suited to kids who want to stroke/cuddle/fuss him.
He had cat flu and ringworm in his early days in care, but has recovered.
John is now desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.
He's available to adopt for the donation of your choice.
We know that there are so many cute kittens, so many more confident and social cats out there - but this boy deserves his happily ever after too đ§Ąđ§Ąđ§Ą
