Personality
Stella is a super sweet puppy who is approximately 14 weeks old. She is in foster care with two kids (6 and 10 years old) and one two-year-old golden retriever. Stella loves playing rough and tumble games with her doggy brother and adores pats at attention from the kids.
Her foster family have been putting lots of training in with Stella and say she is amazing pupstar who will give her new family lots of love and make her new family very happy provided her new family continues with her training
Her foster family is getting her out and about experiencing new things, whilst not overwhelming her at this young age. Stella is learning that car trips mean going to fun places and she has been a hit at the kids sporting activities on the weekends and Stella laps up all the attention. Her foster brother has been an excellent role model for her taking her under his large legs. She loves her two short “walkies” per day and is very social when out and about keen to meet other dogs and people.
Stella will need an active home that is prepared to include her as much as possible in their lives and take her on regular outings so that she continues to experience new things.
Stella is making excellent progress with house training and now has free access to inside and outside during the day, going outside for toileting on the grass. Stella usually holds her bladder and bowels overnight and barks in the morning to ask to be let out of the toilet, such a clever girl😊. Stella does however sometimes have the very occasional accidents so it is important that her new owner support Stella by making sure she goes outside after eating and making sure she has been out for toileting before bed of a night.
Stella loves her doggy bed and sleeps on it overnight and during the day. She is developing mastery of basic training commands. She comes when you call her and knows how to sit and stay and is learning to drop. Stella is super motivated by food which makes training quite easy and she is very eager to please
Stella is in a home where someone is home most of the day. Stella, can entertain herself or plays with her foster brother without any interaction from her family for most of the time however it is important that her new family set Stella up to succeed in this regard with exercise, playtime and mental stimulation, and a family that is committed to continuing her development into a well-adjusted dog using force-free training methods only.
As Stella is still only young and needs ongoing training she will need a home where her family is not away for long periods, one in which she is welcomed inside and permitted to cuddle on the couch of the night, and one where she will not be left in the backyard.
Stella is incredibly affectionate with humans. She absolutely loves cuddling up to someone on the couch and her tail goes into overdrive when someone bends down to give her a pat or a scratch behind the ears.
Basic needs in Stella's new home:-
MUST go to a home with a younger medium/large gentle friendly well-adjusted canine friend who will be a good role model for Stella and who can romp and play with her.
Stella must be allowed inside at all times and be permitted to sleep inside in a warm area at night and cuddle on the couch.
We are looking for adopters who are looking for a dog to truly be part of the family, access inside at all times, daily adventures and exercise, mental stimulation, supervised socialisation with other dogs and people outside of the home, force-free training, and of course lots of love and attention! So a home where adopters are not away from home for long periods and have the time for continued training is a must.
It’s also super important that adoptive families are committed to ongoing consistent force-free training really for the first 18 months and beyond is also very important. We believe Stella will grow into a medium/large-sized doggo so it is very important that she grows into an awesome doggy citizen and an advocate for rescued dogs.
If you would like to meet Stella please send us as much detail as possible on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your location, contact number, your other dog, family members, lifestyle, exercise, training, and mental stimulation you will provide, how often Stella would be alone, where she will have access in the home, where Stella would go if you went away and could not take her with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide.
Medical notes
Stella will be a medium/large sized dog so is too young to be desexed at this age. She will be desexed when she is around 6/7 months old and the cost of this procedure is included in her adoption fee. Stella will need to be returned to our rescue vet Beverly Hills Animal Hospital in Sydney for this procedure.
Stella has had her first vaccination and will be due for her next vaccination in about 2 weeks. The cost of this second vaccination is included in her adoption fee to be given at Beverly Hills Animal Hospital.
Stella will need a third booster vaccination in about 6 weeks and this will be at the cost of the adopter and can be done at their own vet
As Stella is very fair it is important that she not be an outside dog and her new owners understand that they will need to manage her exposure to the sun and that Stella will need sunscreen applied daily to exposed areas such as her nose, ears and stomach particularly when out and about so that she is a sunsmart doggo.🌞
