About Me

Hi. My name is Yana and I am an adorable Jack Russell terrier x Beagle who is an energetic ball of fun.

I show her affection by jumping up for cuddles and I show you love with lots of smooches. I am happy to chill during the day whilst we work, either sleeping on the sofa or outside sunbaking on the grass.

I'm the cutest little girl who only weighs 13 kilos so you can pick me up very easily as Im not heavy lol

Yana likes to spend her days going for walks, meeting new dogs/ people and taking in all of the smells. One of the things she loves at home is playing fetch with her squeaky toys. Running around and making noises with it and showing how happy she is.

One thing we have recently found is that she has a keen eye for shiny reflections, often chasing the light on the ground, trying to catch the light - she loves the game and shows her playful side.

So about me ......
My favourite things are

Loves squeaky toys/ tennis balls, she will run around with her toys and bring them back most of the time, wanting you to throw it around.

Loves her cuddles, and will sit next to you when chilling on the sofa.

Enjoys walks around the parks, visiting dog parks for socialisation

Rolling around in the grass

Human Interaction

I'm a little shy at first when meeting new people. Will approach to say hello and for a welcome pat and is well mannered.

Is good with children, although likes to jump for kisses , so have to be careful around smaller kids

Has been exposed to large crowds, during school pickup and happily sits and waits whilst all of the children wander past (and say how cute she is)

Can get a little excited and may overwhelm some people or children with the jumping and kissing

Obedience

Walking on a lead is in progress, and needs work. Does pull whilst walking and suggest use of front clip harness (No-Pull) we have found this alleviates most of this issue

Is friendly to other dogs and wants to run up and say hello

Can be a little excited in the car, although after a number of car rides she has settled down well and behaves during the ride

With a little treat as a reward, can Sit, Shake and lie down on command

Can fetch and return

Recall is ok, some work needed

Animal Social Skills

Have met other dogs - is quite friendly - although if a dog gets in her face and continues she may grownl/snap. She loves to play with others but dislikes dogs in her face

More playful with small/medium size dogs

Whilst other dogs are around, she tends to keep to herself and wander around the area

She has not met any cats, although has seen a number of possums and birds and does chase these - so may not be too friendly

Whilst out walking she doesn’t tend to bark at other animals

Food

Is not a picky, eats dry food (optimum chicken) and dog Roll (Prime Chicken)

Will eat the dog roll fresh and polish it off, although will graze on dry food when she is hungry

Loves schmackos

Independance

When alone, has spent her time in the backyard under cover

Has toys, a bowl of dry food and a bowl of water to keep busy

Has not destroyed any plants or furniture and have seen her snoozing on the grass in the sun

May bark at other noises/dogs whilst outside alone

Bathing & Hygiene

Doesn’t mind the bath, have had a number of baths and has just stood there whilst the foster carers pampered/scrubbed and dried her with a towel

She doesn’t like loud noises so wouldn't recommend a dryer on her

Her fur is short/medium, smooth but dense and does shed, so will need to brush regularly to remove loose hair with a medium bristle brush or rubber grooming mitt.

Does enjoy rolling around in the backyard, so may like rolling around in smelly things - regular baths will be required

Sleeping

Sleeps inside a doggy crate at night with a comfy bed and blanket - and her toys for comfort

There is a night light nearby so it isn't completely dark

Sleeps all the way through the night from 10pm - 7am (no toilet breaks required)

Settles really well, may bark a couple of times and then goes to sleep

Exercise

Enjoys her walks, or playing in the backyard. Currently enjoying 2 walks a day at around 15-30 mins each.

Does like to spend time at the dog park, which have spent around an hour each time socialising and walking around

Inside the home

Is toilet trained, will hover around the back door as an indication that she wants to go out

May walk between the door and owner consistently to get your attention

Does jump on and around the sofa, although is not destructive - has not chewed any furniture / shoes / clothes etc

Does not like loud noises, such as vacuum or blender - will run away and go into another room

Can go up and down stairs

We haven’t let her up on or sleep on beds

Ideal Home

Would recommend a family with a medium or large backyard where owners have time to play and walk on a regular basis

Needs shelter outside for weather / sun protection and is more of an inside dog.

Would likely be friendly with other dogs in the home as long as they are small/medium and must be friendly and calm in nature and definitely not the "in your face kinda dogs"

Children with dog experience and/or over 8 years old - just so that there is no concern with the jumping/kissing

No cats in the home

Adoption Criteria

A secure yard with shade and shelter with grass to roll on as she loves to roll

Children in the home are suitable but we seek mature dog experienced kind and gentle children

No cats birds all pocket pets

A home that will take her on a daily walk as she really enjoys the outing

A home that will allow her to be an inside / outside dog

A home that her hoomans are not gone for long extended hours or the day

If another dog in the home we seek a small to med male who is playful but not a dog that will be all over her and in her face and that is well socialised with others regularly
