Is your family ready for the love of their life?
Philly just absolutely loves her people. She is a divine Kelpie x Staffy who loves to be around people, is never far away and will show all of her love with lots and lots of loving little licks. With such a beautiful nature, she really just wants your attention and love.

Philly’s favourite things are snuggling up and being tickled by humans, any human interaction. She loves going on walks on and off lead and loves to ‘chat’ with other dogs. She is such a clever little girl and seems to really be learning correct behaviours around other dogs with regular plays.

Philly’s interactions with other humans does usually involve a thorough check out with a jump and lick. We haven’t come across a human Philly doesn’t like, which includes the kiddies! So watch out as she loves the kids and will want to give them kisses too, which may overwhelm any smaller children. Her friendly jumping can be a bit strong for little children too but we feel she is such a clever girl that she can be trained to behave politely around her smaller sized humans. Time and patience is all that is needed with this beauty.

Philly has been trained with a clicker, she had a short period of time where this wasn’t used and it is being slowly introduced back into her training. Most of the time Philly will know that if she follows a command with her clicker this means she will get a food reward, however if she has other friends around she struggles to choose between the two, can have selective hearing, so she may choose to finish off her fun rather than listen to a command. We often then have to have discussions about why it's important to listen… then we have a pat and all is forgiven.
Philly sits well and drops sometimes for treats, she very much loves treat rewards. So this will definitely help with her ongoing training!

Philly doesn’t mind short car trips, but can become a little travel sick in longer trips.

She walks well on lead and has had time off lead and is returning most of the time with the sound of the clicker or voice, unless she is chatting to a friend. She is t very reat motivated so it should be easy to continue her training.

Food
Philly is on dry food and is a bit of a grazer. She also enjoys high quality treats with her training. She is fed high quality dry puppy food morning and night

Animal social skills
She is improving her socialisation skills with training and consistent exposure to different environments.

Philly enjoys being around other playful dogs and usually on walks she likes to say hello. She will be guided by their behaviour, by approaching, laying down and then will see how they react. If they then want to play she will run around with them however if the other dog gives her nothing this also doesn’t phase her and she will continue on her merry way.

There have been some occasions though where she doesn’t like another dog, and will definitely let them know. We feel she had some bad experiences as a young puppy and can show dominance over some dogs with some on lead aggression so introductions need to be with caution. She is definitely better meeting dogs when off lead but as she grows she will definitely need to be closely monitored around other dogs.

For this reason, we feel she is best suited to a home where she is the only animal and that any play dates with other doggie pals are supervised.

It’s important that her new family have the required experience to help her with her continued socialisation and training. She is a confident girl who forgets her age and manners with other dogs at times so continued training is a must. Her new forever family must be committed to taking her to obedience training for social skill development.

Interactions with humans
Philly is definitely a people person and just like a ‘Kardashian’, she wants to be the center of attention. Whenever she is out on her walks, she wants to say hello to everyone and is especially drawn to children. She will happily fall asleep in your arms or lay quietly while she enjoys a belly rub. She is not a mouthy puppy and would rather lick you instead.

Obedience and training
Philly walks very well on the lead and has been trained with a clicker and treats.
This clever girl knows how to sit for food, come, bed and wait (still in practice). Inside she is a calm dog and will happily snuggle up next to you.

Favourite things
Definitely chewing on cow hooves, where she will happily take one to her bed to chew on. She enjoys tug of war and chewing her toys. Her Kong toy with peanut butter is another favourite of Philly’s.
She enjoys her walks and is walked daily for at least 30 min.

Car travel
Philly travels well in the car, happy to jump in and out as knows it means a trip to the park. Initially she was car sick but recently has improved but she hasn’t done any long trips so this still may be an issue.

Toileting
She has come along way with her toileting and hasn’t had an inside accident in weeks, she will hold on all night and if taken out regularly will do her business outside.

Sleeping
This little girl is very adaptable to sleeping inside or even outside. Whilst she’d prefer to be on her foster family’s bed, recently Philly has been sleeping outside under cover. She knows what ‘time for bed’ means and now settles well on her bed outside. Initially she was anxious and would bark or cry but now she understands that she is safe and settles after only a short time frame.

Exercise
Philly is an active girl having those working dog traits so the perfect match for her would be an active family that will keep her fit and healthy with regular walks and play. Her lovely long legs will definitely keep her new family busy!

Independence, bathing and hygiene
Philly has an easy to care for coat. She has started to enjoy water and will now head to the local stream to get her feet wet. She hasn’t minded a bath either.

Inside the home
Whilst Philly is an active and playful girl, she does also enjoy quiet time chewing her cow hoof or having a nap.
A lover of food, you may find that she’s at your feet watching you eat. So best to put her outside during family meal times.
Generally for her age she is well behaved inside but has chewed the odd bit of furniture, not uncommon for a pup of her age
She will have some energy bursts as all puppies do and want to do zoomies around the house to burn energy off.

Outside time
Happy to be outside will scratch at door for a short period but then will settle. She is sleeping outside on her bed under cover.

Daily routine
She wakes when her family wake, she is toileted straight away and then may have a cuddle.
Philly is usually walked for a minimum of 30 mins in the morning, plays with the children and then retires to her bed/couch for a long nap. Philly’s foster dad works from home, so regularly checks in; she likes spending time outside lazing around in the sun.

She is toileted before bed then usually heads to bed around 10 pm and sleeps through the night, no barking or crying. She is not crate trained.

Home sought
Philly needs a home and a forever family who are going to shower her with love and affection and who will remain committed to ongoing training and socialisation. As mentioned above, she is extremely playful and loves some dogs and not others so we’d be wanting her to go to a home where she is the only animal in residence.
