About 🍜Lomi & Meepok🍜
While Lomi and Meepok may look like two cats they are really two halves of one whole. While they are not biological siblings (Lomi is 19 months old and Meepok is 12 months old), being together gives them both confidence and when you see one you can count on the other not being far behind.
Not to mention that their foster mum thinks they are hands down the most beautiful, entertaining and loving cats on the planet. This is what she had to say:
They really brighten up your life, are both two massive big balls of energy yet love to sleep and snuggle with you. I call them my two shadows, they’re always under your feet everywhere you go and need to be with you if you’re watching a movie or working. Beware, Lomi may delete your entire inbox to ensure you have time to spend with her.
This pair love other friendly cats but need a very slow introduction to ensure that all goes smoothly and they can become the best of friends. With a slow introduction we have had no argy-bargys with their foster siblings, just lots of running and playing. They have also warmed to the small dogs in our home so a new home with cat-friendly dogs would be okay too. They love to sleep under your doonas at night snuggled up to your tummy (this is what I will miss the most) and they burrow into your dressing gown or throw rugs and just love kisses and cuddles and to give you a big head butt.
While in care with Squishies they have had some digestion issues which have been resolved with the right prescription food. Their new family needs to be willing to continue this as both have gained a much needed kilo in our care, with the food being the key to this.
They absolutely love their human foster sister so older mature gentle kids will be considered. As they seem to have gone to Door Ninja School, their family needs to be confident that the children (and adults) in the home won’t leave the doors open, even for a minute. Outside is simply not an option for these two for obvious reasons.
Their ongoing care:
Previous Spynx owners will know that this breed is not a ‘set and forget’ kind of cat and they will need a home committed to their wellbeing.
Lomi is currently being treated for an ulcer and requires strict treatment to ensure she has the best chance of keeping her eye. She currently has eye drops three times per day and an eye ointment once per day. She also requires her eye being wiped a few times a day to keep it clear.
Their skin is in amazing condition and to keep it that way they get a daily wipe from top to toe with particular pet wipes. Mid-week they get a freshen up with a shampoo spray and a warm face washer to wipe them down. Once a week they have a spa day where they are bathed and dry. This does not mean that their skin won’t leave oils behind and their bedding needs to be cleaned regularly (3+ times a week) to keep it fresh and clean. We will provide these products to begin with in addition to supporting and guiding their adopter on the best way to care for their skin.
We are looking for a foster with a view to adopt home for these lovely noodles as Lomi’s eye will need long term care (possibly around another 6 months) and we would love for them to settle into their new home sooner rather than later after not having a great start to their young lives. We will continue to provide specialist care for her eye during this time, this includes if she eventually requires surgery to remove the eye.
Lomi & Meepok are in care in Pakenham
Please note that only enquiries that are accompanied by a completed adoption questionnaire will receive a reply. https://www.squishiesrescue.org.au/adopt-cat
Medical notes
Lomi and Meepok go to their new home desexed, microchipped, parasite treated and current in vaccinations. Lomi is currently under specialist care for a slow healing eye ulcer, but we don't want this to prevent the noodles from starting to settle in their forever home.
All of Lomi's eye related care will be paid for by Squishies until the eye is healed, or should it not, removed. Lomi and Meepok will be foster with a view to adopt for the first 6 months, so that we can continue to provide treatment for Lomi's eye.
