About Bravo
Bravo is a very special pup who is looking for a very loving home! He is a confident, happy pup who is full of the joys of life. He has been very well socialised and loves every person and every dog he meets! Bravo is quite an independent pup, and when his boring old foster brothers are having a sleep, he can happily occupy himself playing with his toys or chewing on a stick for hours. He is adventurous and loves exploring new places. While he likes being ‘busy’, he is not a high energy dog and is also very happy to take long naps in his crate or in the car.
While Bravo loves to run and play with other dogs, he cannot cope with rough play, as he has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a neurological condition which means he is sometimes a bit uncoordinated. This condition does not get any worse with age, and in fact his coordination is improving as he matures, as he learns to compensate. Bravo loves to keep up with his foster brothers, so he is highly motivated to do everything that they do. He never backs away from a challenge and his determination to enjoy every moment of the day is uplifting!
Bravo walks quite well on lead but as with any pup, he will need ongoing training to improve on this and to establish his general obedience. He is house trained and crate trained and sleeps all night without making a peep.
Bravo is looking for a home where he will be part of the family and will go out and about to experience every adventure possible. While he will need to be protected from other dogs or situations where he might not be able to cope on his own, he would love to live with a gentle doggy companion who will be tolerant of his puppy ways and join in some games with him. Bravo is an easy going boy so he would probably adapt to any type of home, but he would like to have enough space to fossick around in, as that’s what he likes to do to entertain himself. He would be good with kids of all ages, providing of course there was good parental supervision, particularly since he doesn’t jump up on anyone or anything. Bravo has shared his foster home with a cat, who he would like to play with, if only she would
cooperate (she doesn’t). He also sees horses and cows every day and can be a bit ‘barky’ at them, so some training would be required if he was to live with them!
If you’re looking for a gutsy dog who will make the most of every day and has a quirky, fun character, Bravo could be the dog for you!
Medical notes
Bravo’s sight and hearing have been checked and are completely normal.
Bravo has been diagnosed with the condition Cerebellar Hypoplasia. The clinical signs include ataxia (incoordination) and hypermetric (high-stepping) gait. The condition is non-progressive and as the animal matures their clinical signs often improve as they are able to better compensate. This is the case with Bravo, as his ability to run and jump safely has clearly improved. There is no treatment for the condition. All he will need is some protection from dogs who may be too rough for him to cope with. The neurologist who diagnosed the condition recommends a future visit to check on his progress but there is no reason why he would not now live a healthy, normal life.
