About Chance
Chance is a loveable big boy looking for a home to call his own. He is an American Bulldog born 25th November 2018.
We’ve had the pleasure of fostering, training and socialising Chance here at the farm for the last 6 months. Here’s an honest summary of what we can tell you about Chance to the best of our knowledge and experience in the hope of finding him the most suitable forever home.
Chance is both a big soft marshmallow of love and an incredibly strong stubborn and very serious dog.
His ideal person would be someone who has had experience with his breed or similar. Plus a proven history of commitment in training.
Whilst he’d love nothing more than an owner that was just going to show him love, let him get away with everything and hope for the best. It will be short lived for this guy. It’s not going to work out so please don’t apply. For the sake of Chance.
He’s worked way too hard on himself to come unstuck by someone inexperienced or think they know better with just love and treats.
We want this guy to find his family more than anyone else in this world. But not at the cost of his or others safety.
Chance is a very high performing dog in terms of responsiveness and obedience, tested with very extreme levels of distraction.
Chance needs a strong leader who will show him a balance of love and firm boundaries. He cannot be the leader. In the past he has led with his teeth. So leadership is important, don’t let him fill the power vacuum. Boundaries are very important.
If Chance is given what he needs. He is a soft cuddly teddy bear that’ll want to snuggle with you on the couch all day.
He will love his person with every inch of his being. He’ll be loyal and a fiercely strong protector.
He has only shown a gentle nature towards our children and we believe he could be a wonderful family dog with BUT he does need the appropriate owner to guide him.
He has not been tested with cats at this stage. If a cat is the deal breaker for the perfect situation for Chance, we can test and advise.
Chance has been undergoing socialisation training with dogs. He prefers strong confident female dogs and has lived alongside Nevaeh long term, unsupervised without issue. He has been trained to tolerate other dogs and continues to socialise with guidance.
With a strong experienced owner he can live with another dog.
Chance has been a tough cookie to work with given his history, but he has the most admirable trait a dog can have in terms of training and that is, he only wants to please you. He doesn’t want to do the wrong thing. He really takes it to heart displeasing you. And he tries very hard to always be a good boy. He simply needs for someone to continue to guide him on the good boy path for life.
Chance is looking for an experienced owner. Someone who is committed to his best interests through continuing training, establishing a leader based relationship and setting firm boundaries. We are committed to support a suitable adoption for Chance with training for the owner.
If you think you could be that furever family for Chance, please contact our friendly staff via email at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com or 0499 900 272 to organise a meet and greet.
Chance’s adoption fee is $450, and this includes his desexing, vaccinations and lifetime registration. Chance is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Chance is currently located in Jilliby
Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
