About June
June has been in our care for a long time and requires a special, dedicated home. She really is a true rescue dog as she takes longer than average to feel comfortable with new people, often taking at least 30 minutes to feel slightly comfortable when someone new enters the home.
Once June trusts, you have a best friend for life. She bonds so closely with her chosen people and has a protective nature over those she holds dear to her. Due to her fearfulness, she requires a very gentle approach. June's protective nature necessitate a patient and understanding owner who can provide a stable environment. Due to this she is best suited as the only pet in the home despite being friendly with animals most of the time. She can coexist with other dogs and cats limited to short encounters outside the home.
June needs a quiet home with minimal strangers entering and exiting. She is not suitable for a household with children. A backyard of her very own would be June's dream! She finds walking on a lead challenging due to the unpredictable nature of the outside world. She is more comfortable toileting in her own home and is toilet trained on puppy pads. June can be quite vocal when she feels uncomfortable or threatened. However, in her long-term foster care, she has shown her playful side with squeaky toys and her cuddly side once she feels secure.
June is available for a foster-to-adopt arrangement, which allows potential adopters to foster her with close support from the shelter during the settling-in period before finalising the adoption. She needs a patient and dedicated owner who will invest time and care into helping her feel safe and secure. In return, June will offer a close bond, affection, and total devotion. If you believe you can provide the right home for a little lady who really needs your help feeling safe, please contact us for more information on the foster-to-adopt process.
Note: This dog is currently being cared for in a home and when adopted, it will free up a spot to help another dog.
