The incredible Johnny is now seeking his forever family

At just 5 months this beautiful boy is a mix of a few breeds we feel possibly a hint of Kelpie,Border Collie and a few others so we are calling him a crossbreed. Johnny is only 23 kilos so based on this and his age we feel he will be a larger size med at full growth

Johnny is an old soul at heart for such a young age. He is around 5 months old, and has a kind & gentle demeanor about him. It doesn’t take him long to adjust to new environments, and hasn’t been shy to say hello to new people or other dogs. He would make a perfect best friend to any family with or without children.

FAVOURITE THINGS

He loves a cuddle, and can stare deep into your eyes, letting you know there is a strong connection between you & him.

He’s developed a love for carrots & bananas, as well as the usual standard dog treats. He also likes a good game of tug of war with his fur sister, whether she wants to or not, as well as high speed chases around the yard, either by zoomies or hide & seek amongst the bushes.

INTERACTIONS WITH HUMANS

Johnny settled in very quickly with his foster family. He’s been very gentle with the kids (ages 12 & 9), and also meeting new people.

OBEDIENCE/TRAINING

Johnny, being still young, will require ongoing training to keep him focussed. He’s slowly learning to sit & wait at meal times. He’s great on lead going for walks, but will need continued interactions with traffic to become more road savvy. He’s only travelled in the car for his vet appointment, and travelled well.

ANIMAL SOCIAL SKILLS

Johnny has a big foster-fur sister, and interacts well with her. From playing chase throughout the yard, to continued nagging of each other, they have quickly become good friends. He has gained confidence to the point that she has either given him her bed, or he has commandeered it from her. :-)

He has developed a keen interest in bird watching thanks to the Labrador of the house. This is not limited to feathered varieties. Planes and helicopters are in this category also. He hasn’t met a cat yet, so not sure how he would interact with them.

FOOD

Johnny has been eating Savour Life grain free dry puppy food currently twice per day. He eats relatively slowly when it is dry. We have found he eats a little better with the biscuits soaked in water a couple of minutes prior to eating.

INDEPENDANCE

Johnny has his fur sister currently to keep him company. He can also keep himself occupied chewing on one of his toys, or simply lazing away in the sun or in his bed. He likes the curiosity toys that keep him chasing the treats out of them. Being a young boy in his teenage years if adopted as an only dog he will need enrichment during the day if left alone

SLEEPING

Currently, Johnny sleeps outside in a kennel. They both sleep in close proximity to each other under a covered outdoor area.

EXERCISE

Being a puppy, he will need a lot of play time and daily walks to keep him content. Apart from the odd blanket tug of war casualty, he hasn’t shown any signs of destruction yet. Jonny should be walked every day to keep him fit and socialised

INSIDE THE HOME

Johnny is curious to be inside the home, but has spent the majority of his time here outside. He does like to explore new surroundings, and needs outdoor access. There’s only been 1 toilet incident inside the house.

Adoption Criteria for Johnny
A yard with grass , shade and shelter and secure fences
If another dog in residence we would love him to have a friend who is female med to large who is very well socialized
A home that has the time to take him on a walk each day
Children in the home are fine for Johnny
A home that will take the time to train Johnny to make sure he matures into the best dog he can
