The stunning Kelpie Boy Mackie is now seeking his forever family

Mackie Boy is just a baby really at 9 months of age and just a smaller boy at only 17 kilos

As a true Kelpie Mackie is full of energy and fn always wanting to play and burn off that typical Kelpie high energy

His stunning looks , great temperament and soft fluffy coat along with his great affectionate personality makes him a cracker of a dog in the correct home.

Mackie Boy comes with one of our adoption packs including

Harness,Lead,SeatBelt Safety and a travel bowl

CAR

Mackie gets very anxious travelling in the car but doesn’t not suffer from travel sickness. This will improve with experience and more exposure to car travel.The more he desenitises the better he will get.

FOOD

He is food motivated and not fussy all, he shies away from eating his dinner if you’re standing right there but will guts the whole bowl when given space. He’s doing really well with eating commands when given a meal also.

OUTSIDE

Mackie greets people and other dogs in a very excitable manner. He has not met someone he hasn’t liked and the same goes for dogs. He is fine to be left during the day as long as he has stimulation.

ENRICHMENT

He requires ongoing exercise and/or stimulation, as a very active dog he bores quickly and if left to his own devices he may chew or tear whatever he can find. He enjoys training, running and playing as well as lots of cuddles and affection. As he is still a young dog dont leave your shoes outside lol

INDEPENDENCE

Mackie does not cry or bark when left alone, he often is happy to self entertain or nap in the sun and grass however if left for extended periods of time you might find him destroying a bed or a tennis ball etc.

WALKS

Will benefit from ongoing lead training, doesn’t pay much attention to the sounds of cars or other dogs barking ect. He will happily greet all other dogs and all types of people. He is extremely energetic when meeting other people and will jump a little if allowed, when meeting dogs he can be a little timid but quickly changes to play mode after greeting.

OBEDIENCE

Simple Commands - Sit, Stay, Come, Drop are all being worked on and in a calm focused environment he listens to them all.

He responds well to training but struggles with focus if there’s other things going on nearby. Requires ongoing training and support. He is full on fun and when overly excitable still jumps up for pats at this stage

INSIDE

He likes to investigate the area before he settles and sometimes getting him to settle can be a mission being a working dog.

However he is incredibly cuddly so pats and attention will always keep him still and quiet.

SOCIABILITY

Mack is a very social boy, he likes all kinds of dogs, doesn’t show much interest in birds and has not been tested with cats. He shows positive interest with all animals he’s greeted and loves to engage in play. He can be timid and scared upon first encounter (this sometimes goes for humans too) however it doesn’t take him long to warm up. We feel he would strongly benefit from having a playmate and would be seeking a playful female of the same energy who is very well socialized with other dogs.

SLEEP

He sleeps outside and sometimes chooses to curl up anywhere but his bed, he doesn’t like crates but does enjoy his daybed.

He sleeps through the night without a peep.

TOILET

Mackie is mostly an outside dog, he doesn’t have any toilet cues but has not had an accident inside, so given ample opportunity to go to the toilet this should not be a problem.

Adoption Criteria for Mackie Boy

A home with recent dog experience

A home with another dog would be great and we would be seeking a female of similar energy who is well socialised

A home with a good size yard with secure fencing and plenty of shade and shelter

A home that is prepared to keep Mackie very well exercised and stimintated as this is crucial for this breed

A home that has the time to spend training him to ensure he matures into the best dog he can

We have not tested him with cats

A home with children would be fine but we seek mature loving and dog savvy children who will play with him
