Brutus, is a senior gent and is happy to lounge around your home or yard, but will follow you around when he's feeling more active and despite being an older pooch, is very playful with other dogs. He loves meeting other dogs and saying hi, and will be the first one to move into the 'play bow'.
Brutus is fantastic with kids big and small, and allows plenty of respectful cuddles. He does like to cuddle back and thinks he's smaller than he actually is when he tries to lie beside you! He's great on lead, does not pull at all but expect a few sniff and pee stops along the way! He loves his walks: he currently enjoys a daily walk of 30 minutes and he's getting fitter. He's happy in the car (will just lie down and have a snooze). Loves the beach but fresh water is his favourite as he likes to drink the puddles 😂
Brutus will give paw on command and sit when he feels like listening, although at other times he pretends to be deaf..! He also doesn't have the greatest recall when he sees something that interests him, however he isn't too fast on his feet and always comes back.
Brutus doesn't want to wander, if you give him a loving, comfy home he will be happy to keep you company and not try to leave! He is a lovely old boy who would suit a laid back home with plenty of love to give. He will make a great companion, when not sleeping he enjoys being your shadow and lying on your feet while you're watching TV or on the laptop. He's a dog that's 'ready to go', minimal training required, just a gentle, relaxed dude who deserves the very best.
MEDICAL NOTES
Adoption fee includes vet check, vaccination, microchip (including transfer of ownership fee), flea and worm treatment. Brutus is sterilised. He has a little stiffness in his hips and fusing of his spine, both consistent with a dog of his age, but is not on any medication.
Brutus came into care with an obsession with drinking water (he would drink till the water container was empty). This caused him to urinate whenever and wherever he was. We were a little concerned so bloodwork was done, which came back all clear.
We were advised to limit the amount of water Brutus could access and with doing this, along with his daily extercise, he has not had any more accidents with his bladder.
ADOPTION NOTES
Our adoption process for the successful applicant includes a meet and greet, (including your own dog if applicable), a home check (or photos of your yard and fencing to be supplied to us if not local), and a two week trial period to ensure your chosen dog is the right fit for your home.
All adoption fees must be deposited into our SAFE Bunbury bank account in full before adoption trial starts (we cannot accept cash). The Adoption Agreement will be emailed to the selected applicant in advance of meeting your chosen dog.
After the adoption trial period has been completed we arrange transfer of ownership of the dog's microchip to the new owner, and email out the vet records.
