Meet our stunning Princess Pringle, otherwise known as ‘Princess’ by her foster family. Princess Pringle is a Jack Russell terrier x English Staffy weighing in at just 14 kilos Unfortunately Princess did not have the best start to life which leaves her with some anxiety in new homes. She takes time to adjust, so if you feel you could provide a beautiful stable, secure, patient and loving home please read below about our beautiful girl.  Princess is a little bundle of happy energy, a bit like an energiser bunny lol.  She is a vivacious, energetic 10-month-old Staffy X. As you will see by her features and traits, a cross with a Jack Russell breed.A delightful and playful little girl, she is the size of a small staffy who just loves to lay on her tummy with her hind legs stretched out like staffies do to relax and with that Jack Russell nose, she enjoys sniffing around and chasing anything she can - always busy Princess’ foster family are a very active family with three energetic children, including a four-year-old, who she just adores and loves playing outdoors with.  She is great at backyard cricket, happily playing main fieldsman and oh boy, she’s damn quick to get that ball back to the keeper. She loves going for long walks, more walks and did I say walks?!. Her foster mum takes her on daily walks that can be up to 7km in distance. Mum’s exhausted but oh not Princess!! Princess would love a large yard to investigate and keep her stimulated.Being a predominantly outside dog, Princess is very active amongst her foster family and enjoys interacting with them at any stage she can and sneaks in for a kiss at any opportunity. She also enjoys a sneaky cuddle on the couch at the end of a busy day after she’s worn herself out with daily activities. A pup who just loves to do zoomies around the yard, playing with the children of the house up and down the passage,  chasing balls and playing tug of war with the kids.  Note that Princess is not your cuddly lap dog at all, so don’t expect endless cuddles. The way you get enjoyment with her is being active and exploring the big wide world out there. Whilst she loves her family, she also likes her space too and is happy spending time on her own outside where she will play her own game of fetchIt is important that her new forever family understand that Princess can become quite anxious as she settles into her new home. This is displayed by excessive mouthing, nipping, where she will possibly grab at your hand, arms and clothing. She may also look for other ways to settle herself down which may include chewing things that she should not chew, so keep those precious, fragile belongings out of reach just like you would with a young toddler in the house! We have found providing her with cow hooves and toys has helped. As Princess settles into a new home and feels comfortable she has shown to become more settled with her behaviour, so she needs a loving, understanding and patient family who will allow her time to adjust. When moving into her new surroundings, we feel that it is best that she is given time to decompress outside in the backyard with only short periods inside the home. She should not be overwhelmed with trying to cuddle and pat her as this will only add to her stress in a new home. Her new family will need to understand this and be willing to work with her, providing consistent training and the setting of firm boundaries, which may take a number of weeks, not days. Dogs can take up to three months to feel settled into a new home. Once settled Princess is a delight to have around as she has shown us in foster care. Remember, she is still a 10-month-old pup, who can be very mouthy when playing or wanting your attention, which may result in a nip of skin and she may not always listen to being told “No”.Once settled, you’ll find that Princess just wants to play and play and play more. She will find things to entertain herself, so remember, keep any precious or valuable things out of reach. She’s a baby that will put things in her mouth and chew away just like most puppies of her age. We’ve found that she enjoys chewing on a cow hoof or a bone.ObediencePrincess is still a young girl and is learning the right way to behave. She will need ongoing socialisation and obedience training. She is learning basic skills of sitting and coming when called (which we have seen some improvement). Yummy dog treats will definitely help with training her.She would benefit from group training sessions and socialisation. After lots of walking with her foster mum, she walks well on the lead and will now quite happily walk alongside you (although she does love to stop and sniff EVERYTHING!). Princess really enjoys being off lead and is starting to master returning on command, especially if she is greeted with a treat. It is important that her new family have the time to exercise and train this little gir SocialisationThis little girl has come a long way interacting with other dogs. Initially she seemed quite reserved and hesitant but now she’s a social butterfly. We have found that Princess interacts well with other dogs who are equally as active and agile as she is. She is dog social and is very excited to meet new doggy friends. She loves to play with another dog that also enjoys running crazily in outdoor open spaces. Princess generally takes on a submissive role when first interacting with other dogs and has the intelligence to understand when the other dog doesn’t want to play. Princess would love a handsome Prince to keep her company and help her burn of energy.SleepingAfter the kids have gone to bed, she will come inside to have an evening cuddle on the couch with her foster mum or dad. Princess happily sleeps outside in her warm cosy bed that is kept on the sheltered, covered deck.She is such a happy little girl, who rarely barks or cries when left outside, however we are never too far away.ToiletingPrincess is well toilet trained; however she can still have the occasional accident when distracted. If sleeping inside she doesn’t have an issue holding on all night but whilst in our care, she has predominantly been kept outside. FoodA lover of food, Princess prefers to graze throughout the day because she doesn’t want to miss out on any of the action. She is currently purely on Advance for medium Terriers. She also likes some high-quality doggy treats when being trained. Car TravelPrincess is often reluctant to go in the car, however when she is in she seems to settle really well. She has had a mixture of short trips and longer trips (up to 1.5hrs). She prefers travelling in the backseat and will occasionally poke her head up to see if we’re there yet. Ideal home• A loving and caring family who are physically active and willing to spend lots of time with Princess to bring out the best in her; providing her lots of opportunities for walks and playtime• We believe that she is best suited to a home with another active, high-energy male dog who also loves to play chase and do lots of zoomies around the yard. Please note that we do not adopt to a family that has a dog of the same sex.• A home that only has teenage children with dog experience would be best, as Princess can still be quite jumpy and needs to be taught a few boundaries• A home with a decent sized backyard for her to burn up her bucket loads of energy and that also has an undercover, outdoor area where she can also sleep and chill• Ongoing obedience training a must and the family must have experience with young dogs and understanding of puppy behaviour• A family who understands that this little girl is still a pup, who is mouthy, who will need to be shown boundaries and that it will take patience and consistent training for her to learn
