Kelila is a sweet and gentle soul seeking a patient, quiet and understanding home. She is great with cats, dogs of all sizes (but prefers ones that aren't up in her face) and kids, but is easily overwhelmed and a big ol' scaredy cat outside her comfort zone.
The biggest thing Kelila will need is time. She is very timid and unsure to begin with, it took about 24 hours for her to start to trust her carer. Every day she is coming more and more out of her shell and showing her cheeky side, like rubbing up against you like a cat, talking and giving love nibbles. Kelila has not once jumped up on anyone nor gone on the couch - even when invited. She craves the safety of her crate and will head to it whenever something scary is happening, such as a loud noise, the prospect of a walk or if she thinks she is in trouble for some reason. To her, the world is a petrifying place and so she will need a lot of conditioning to new things to slowly build up her confidence.
Once out on her walk she walks quite well but is easily startled, she won't let a stranger near her and will dance about with her tail between her legs to avoid interaction. You need to understand that Kelila will come to you in her own time, and when she does it's the best feeling. Not even treats or praise will win her over, just time.
Kelila has beautiful house manners and spends most of her day snoozing inside. A few times now she has started showing interest in toys and doing zoomies in the backyard, just to give a glimpse of how happy she can be when comfortable. She is a terrible guard dog as she will just hide, she rarely even barks. She enjoys head and back scratches and giving you headbutts to show her affection.
Kelila does not wish for her people to be away from her for long periods, but a few hours here and there are ok, she may sook for a bit then curl up. Any children need to be the quiet, respectful type, as loud noises and sudden movements startle her. She likes the quiet life.
This absolute sweetheart will make a great companion in the right home. Please acknowledge you have read her profile in full in your application.
