About Kane
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- Ideally a medium/large doggie companion to help build his confidence.
- A family where people are home more than not
- A grassed yard to do zoomies
- Children over 10 years
Meet the handsome Kane! He should've been called George Clooney with his debonair 5 o'clock shadow. This charming, fawn boy is just as lovely on the inside as he is on the outside. He's sure to quickly win the hearts of his new forever family.
Kane has the adorable greyhound trait of borrowing items from his humans to decorate his bed. Pillows, tea towels, socks and shoes have all found their way to Kane's big comfy bed. Thankfully he is just a collector and no damage is done! He happily lollops around in the backyard, exploring and sometimes taking a little 'bath' in his foster families old disused bathtub. So far, he has happily spent a few hours outside by himself without any issues.
His foster family are always around other medium to large dogs, so Kane has had some opportunities to play with breeds of all sorts, including another greyhound and has conducted himself well under supervision in a large yard. He has been living with two large dogs who he gets along with well and enjoys their company. He is not bothered about small dogs and just gives a polite sniff.
Kane came into foster care as a shy dog and is still learning how to manage this new world as a pet that he's found himself in, although he can't seem to stop his happy helicopter tail from going a million miles an hour when his foster family returns home.
Kane loves being at home, happily trotting or zooming about in the backyard. He'd enjoy a clam shell sandpit to dig in or to have a splash in, some doggy toys and a bone a few times a week make Kane one happy hound. He's a real homebody. Kane would love a doggy companion to play with and to curl up next to at night time as he's always been around other dogs and likes company.
The outside world is currently a bit scary for Kane, which very well may change given time and patience, but his goofy personality really shines through when he's comfortable at home
The way to Kane's heart may well be through his stomach! He's a hearty eater and was caught opening the door to the laundry where the food is kept with that helicopter tail giving away his accomplishment.
Kane is still getting getting used to humans, particularly men, but his foster family see his confidence grow daily and have no doubt that with time and plenty of patience this absolutely gorgeous boy will be able to feel comfortable as a loved member of the family.
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]
