About Nala
************** PLEASE APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ****************************
Nala is a stunning female German Shepherd with a long stock coat, she is 6.5 years old and is looking for a new home due to no fault of her own. Nala is currently in the shelter and is desperate to escape and start her new life with her forever family.
Nala is the sweetest girl who loves to give cuddles and kisses, once she feels comfortable with new people, she leans into them for more pats and affection. Nala loves meeting new people and is a social butterfly, in her previous home she loved it when neighbourhood children would visit and enjoyed playing with them. Nala would suit most family dynamics and could be suited living in a home with children so long as they have previous experience living with a large breed dog.
Nala is an independent girl who enjoys problem solving, sniffing games and puzzles, she is an easy girl to please and will be happy with daily exercise and mental enrichment to keep her amused. Nala loves food and is highly treat motivated, she knows her basic commands and is a fast learner. Nala does need to work on her leash manners as she pulls hard when on lead.
Nala has had some frustrating experiences with other dogs previously, as a result she is extremely dog reactive and finds it very difficult to focus her attention away whenever she knows another dog is nearby. Nala will put on a big show of barking, lunging, and growling when faced with another dog, this includes through the fence line when she knows another dog is on the other side, she is extremely frustrated. Nala’s dog reactivity will need to be worked on long-term in her new home, she has a very low threshold when she sees another dog and is best being walked in low-populated or quiet areas for the time being.
During her assessment, Nala has shown that with a very slow introduction, that she could be integrated with a large-breed male dog who is calm, friendly and who ignored her reactivity. Nala may be able to live with a large-breed male dog in her new home, however it would need to be the right dog that will not be scared off or retaliate to her initial frustrated outburst. Nala would also be fine as the only dog in her new home. Nala has not been tested with cats or other small pets.
Nala is such a sweet girl that is so desperate to be loved and to join a family again. Nala would love to be welcomed inside the home and included as part of the family with a big fluffy bed of her own and lots of treats on offer. The companionship and love this beautiful girl has to offer is second to none for someone who is willing to open up their hearts and home to her.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
