About Sandy
Sandy is a gentle sweet lass. She can think of nothing better than spending time with you. Sandy is very tactile, she loves to touch you whichever way she can. Maybe a gentle nudge to let you know anytime is the right time for pats and she often leans in to suggest a cuddle is what you both need. She will climb into your lap if she can to share an extra special smooch.
Sandy is quite smart, she took to living in a home very quickly and mastered the doggy door within a day. Sandy is a little clumsy though, known to get tangled in curtains or forgetting you can’t walk through a glass door of its shut. Bump !
Sandy is usually quite calm but a little reserved in new situations. She does quickly warm up and relax, enjoying the new experience or to meet her new best friend. Sandy will have her play time too with bursts of bouncy energy to entertain you. She has a delightful dance -jumping on the spot.
Sandy does collect things to take to her bed. On occasion a bit of firewood or small house plant may miraculously appear in her bed. How did that get there ? …..Sandy ?
Sandy shares her foster home with her foster brother, another greyhound. They get on very well, sharing beds and the back seat of the car happily. Sandy would enjoy the company of another suitable dog in the home but could be an only dog in a home if her humans are at home more often than not.
Sandy enjoys her walks. She is happy with 30 to 45 minutes once a day but up for more if you have the time. She is polite but a little reserved meeting new dogs on her walks. If the other dog is calm she is happy to have a inquisitive sniff or nose touch.
With her striking blue and white coat, Sandy gets a lot of attention from her admirers. She even has a blue spot on her forehead that her foster carers affectionately call her “kiss button”
Sandy is an easy loving and quirky delight.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
