About Johnson
Hello there, I am so pleased to meet you. My name is Johnson, and I am here waiting for the right person to come and adopt me.
I came to the shelter after a nice person found me wandering on the streets and got me help. Now that I have been checked over me a vet and had all my
procedures and treatments done, all I am missing from my life is a family to call my own.
Something important to know about me is that I have tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). This is a cat only disease which is very
similar to HIV. Cats like me which are positive to FIV can live enjoy a good quality of life for a long time before the disease progresses. I am more
vulnerable to other diseases and as such should be kept indoor only to protect me from catching illnesses or from spreading FIV to other cats. FIV is not
easily spread, and the main way cats catch it is from bites from infected cats. If you do have other cats at home, it is recommended that you take
introductions very slowly and carefully to ensure we get along and do not fight. It would be best if I only go to a home with another FIV positive cat and
that I remain an indoor only cat for life.
During my time in the shelter, the vets discovered that I had an internal parasite called whipworm. I was treated for it by having a worming tablet which
needs to be repeated monthly for 3 months. To prevent me becoming infected again it is recommended that you clean up my faeces as soon as I go to the
toilet and ensure that I am treated regularly for worms.
I've had cat flu, which is just as common as a cold for humans and has very similar symptoms. But this does mean I need to go to a home where there are
no other cats. I'm not particularly fond of other cats, so I really need to be the only feline in the house. I promise that means you'll get all of my love and
attention once I open up with you!
If you think you might be the missing piece from my life, please speak to the staff about adopting me.
Love Johnson xx
