About Pecan
Pecan has been acing his time at Camp Foster Care and has earned himself a few badges ("zoomie king", "super snuggler", and "loves human friends") and is almost ready to find his pawfect match.
A must have for Pecan is a confident greyhound sibling, or humans who are home more often than not. He does not like to spend much time solo, as he is a very social boy who loves company.
Pecan prefers not to be approached on his bed and will give a few growls to let you know (he does not show any issues after being invited onto shared spaces like the couch and has no instances of sleep startle), however he could be suited to a home with dog savvy children if they are able to respect his space. He displays very gentle behaviour with young children, and is a nice "compact" 30kgs, so quite small for a boy.

• What your work/social commitments will look like as restrictions continue to ease
Please no applications from:
(1) Homes with small animals (cats/dogs under 15kgs) or pocket pets (example: rabbits, rats, guinea pigs)
(2) Homes where Pecan would be left alone for more than 4 hours
Medical notes
Pecan has an undershot jaw, while very cute, this does mean some of his teeth are more exposed to wear. Like all greyhounds, he will benefit from good oral care, and regular dentals at a clinic familiar with sighthounds.
Pecan also has fibrinolytic syndrome. This is fairly common clotting disorder (effecting up to 30% of greyhounds), and should be disclosed to any vet clinic that Pecan sees prior to undergoing any surgical procedures to ensure he is treated with tranexamic acid.
Adoption details
1) Please email adopt@amazinggreys.com.au
2) Our adoptions team will send you an application form so we can learn more about you, your household and lifestyle
3) Once you submit an application, a volunteer from Amazing Greys then conducts an in person home check so that you can learn more about us and our community (all of our volunteers are fully vaccinated and must abide by our COVID Safety Plan)
4) Based on the home check, our adoptions team will suggest a suitable match for you*, and a meet and greet will be arranged with the foster home
5) After the meet and greet, should you decide to proceed the greyhound will be placed on a 3 week trial with you
5) At the completion of the trial period, our $385 fee will be due and the greyhound becomes an official member of your family!
Our team will keep in touch with you throughout the process and help you to settle in your new greyhound; but you will also have lifetime support, at any point post adoption our team can assist with referrals to qualified behaviourists and also providing resources and in home consultations where required.
*Where a suitable match is not available, you may be placed onto a wait list. Please note, we do not cat test and may refer applications with small animals to organisations that are able to assist with a placement
