About Manwell Aka Manu
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE.
NAME: Manu
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound.
BREED: Jack Russell with mixed breeds.
Jack Russell breed traits: they are lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can dig and chew. Terriers are devoted to their people, affectionate and love being with them so cannot be left for long periods. Jack Russells, if unsocialised, may be reactive to larger dogs so it is important that careful and sensitive socialisation from a young age is undertaken.

ASSETS: Manu is affectionate, friendly, outgoing, confident, active, sweet and playful! He's a delight to have around and his foster describes him as unique, loving, quirky and completely adorable, with not a bad bone in his body.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Manu loves to have company, whether that's another dog or a person. He loves to play with other dogs, chase a ball, paddle at the beach, go for walks and car rides, have morning snuggles and spend time having cuddles on the couch!
ENDEARING FEATURES: He's a versatile, all-round well-behaved boy. He oozes friendliness and loves everyone he meets. He has a very cute face and is a great companion. When he runs, he bounds like a rabbit, and people think he looks like a miniature dingo!
OTHER ANIMALS: Manu loves the company of other dogs and could live with another friendly dog in his new home. He gets on well with smaller animals and has lived in a foster home with chickens and cats and doesn't show any interest at all in hurting them.
GENERAL INFO: Manu will need some lead training as he has not had much experience out on a lead. He is progressing well with a harness which is helping with pulling. He is virtually housetrained but still has the odd accident when left alone. He knows many commands and is very obedient and eager to please, so training is fairly easy with him. He will bark to get attention, at strange noises or when someone is at the door. He's not keen on the noise of the vacuum cleaner but this is probably just something that he needs to get used to over time. He can get a bit protective over food and bones with other dogs so this will need to be managed and he will need to be fed away from other dogs in his new home.
ESSENTIALS for Manu:
** A dog-experienced, loving home where someone is there for most of the day or can take him out with them. He could be left for a few hours if he has the company of another dog.
** An owner who will continue to train him and build on the great progress he has made in care. He is still a pup and needs to attend classes where he can socialize and learn new things.
** He needs good daily exercise of one to two walks a day, playtime in the garden and involvement in family activities.
** Manu needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** Manu loves to be with his people so needs to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
Manu would go best in a home with children over 8 years of age who will be able to read his signals when he wants his own space.
If Manu sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
