About Bella
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE.
NAME: Bella
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Jack Russell x Maltese
BREED TRAITS
Jack Russells are lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can dig and chew. Terriers are devoted to their people, affectionate and love being with them so cannot be left for long periods. Jack Russells need to be well socialised or can become reactive to larger dogs. Careful and sensitive socialisation from a young age is a must.
Maltese are easy going, affectionate, lively, intelligent and sweet tempered. They do not tolerate being left alone and are definitely inside dogs as they suffer in extremes of temperature. Maltese adore their family, are pretty dog friendly but can be a little wary of strangers. They are low shedders but require regular grooming. Smart and playful they are quite easy to train. A small dog with big personalities they can have a tendency to bark at unknown sights and sounds.

ASSETS: Bella is easy going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, and very sweet! Bella is quite active and playful and would love an active home. She has a ton of love to give to her new family. In foster she meets the carer's grandchildren and absolutely loves them - their ages are 8+.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Bella absolutely loves her squeaky toy duck! She loves to throw it in the air and chase it around and then, of course, she is ready for a snuggle with the human - best of all!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Bella has a beautiful personality and is very affectionate and devoted to her human, as well as being as cute as a button with a mind of her own!
OTHER ANIMALS: Bella gets on well with other friendly dogs and plays well with them although she can become a little jealous if other dogs are getting all the attention. Bella is far too interested in small animals such as cats and rabbits and will chase so needs a dog only home. She is also not chicken friendly.
GENERAL INFO: Bella walks nicely on the lead. She is housetrained and learning some commands but would benefit greatly from ongoing instruction - classes will stretch her and give her structure. She barks when someone is at the door and if the other dogs start barking. Bella will also scream if she's excited! She does not dig or chew and has learned to use the doggy door. Sometimes she can guard high value treats from other dogs.
ESSENTIALS for Bella:
** A dog-experienced, loving home where someone is home most of the time if she is the only pet, but if living with another gentle dog she could live in a home with flexible work hours.
** An owner who will continue to train her and build on the great progress she has made in care - classes where she can learn new things would be of great benefit.
** Good daily exercise as she is quite active, trips in the car and being involved in family activities.
** A fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** She loves to be with her people so will need to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night - on the end of the bed if allowed!
Bella could live in a home with dog savvy children over 8yrs of age who will know to handle her gently, interact and play with her appropriately and be able to give her space when she needs it as she can get over excited.
If Bella sound like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
