About Amber
Amber is a spunky little goofball who is obsessed with cuddles and affection. She is a very pretty little pixie who absolutely thrives on human affection- if she doesn't get it, she will be sure to give you a little nibble or nudge to get it. It's the love from her humans that she craves, but she is happy to spend her own time tossing her toys in the air and catching them.
Amber has it all sorted. Toilet trained, does stairs, not fazed by travelling in the car and has lovely manners. She loves her walks and then spending the rest of the day snoozing or playing with her toys until it's time for her next adventure. She has quite a bit of energy and thrives on her playtime, zoomies, and routine walks. She is living with another grey that she desperately tries to play with her foster brother, but he is not that keen and will politely tell her to go away. Amber responds well to this and will respect his space and carry on with her own playtime. She would love another friendly hound to have some playtime with, though.
Out and about, Amber has been fine walking past polite hounds but has not had a lot of interactions with many dogs as she is still a bit anxious and developing her confidence. She has been joining our other greys at the Coburg market, and this has helped her confidence immensely, but she will need slow and polite introductions to other dogs. She would love someone who is around more often than not.
This little cutie-pie will thrive being around her affectionate humans.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
