Marcus

Marcus came in as a street kitten, carrying a suitcase full of fear. When he first came in he had absolutely no trust and the only way he would defend was by himself by lashing out. After lots of time and love, Marcus is now a smoochy, talkative, attentive young boy with so much love to give. He still has some trust issues, but if you get to know him he will glue himself to you. He is a true companion cat, just wants to be with you and know what you are up to at all times. He rarely lays on a lap, but will snuggle in next to you instead and flop for belly rubs at any opportunity. His biggest leaps in confidence were made when other confident cats were around to guide him, and when he met fellow foster Oopsie he not only fell head over heals for her but opened up for all the human love too. He would love to find a home with Oopsie, or at least a home with another confident kitty who can show him the ropes. Marcus finds comfort in small spaces and routine: in foster care, he has continued to use his large crate as a safe space anytime he feels overwhelmed (like when visitors come over) and knows that is where he gets fed too. He responds very well to treats (his favourite seems to be freeze dried roo pieces) so positive reward training should work well in his new home. He is an extremely clean cat, with good litter habits and a healthy appetite. Marcus is not recommended for a family with young children as he is still easily frightened and does not cope well with being cornered or pickup suddenly (though he is fine to be picked up and held with someone he has a lot of trust with).
