About Flash
Only available for adoption within Sydney area as he needs to continue working with one of our qualified trainers to help him on leash
Flash Gordon (Flash for short) is a gorgeous and delightful 6-year-old long-haired standard Dachshund x Border Collie who is a very gentle, loving, calm but energetic man. He loves all people including children so would fit into most home environments.
Flash weighs approximately 12 kgs.
Being a dachshund mix Flash does have a long spine so would NOT be suited to a house with multiple steps and must go to a home that understands how to manage his activity particularly around jumping in, out, and on things from a height such as cars and lounges.
Flash has come from a home where he did not get a lot of socialisation with other dogs. He loves his smaller foster sister to bits but will need a home without another dog and an owner who is prepared to continue to work with him on leash with other dogs as he can be quite reactive if not introduced slowly/correctly.
His carer wants you to know that he is perfect in every other way:)
His carer has started to work with a trainer with Flash on his introductions to other dogs however Flash is still a work in progress in this respect and will need an owner that understands that whilst this may improve somewhat it is highly probable that he will never be entirely comfortable meeting new dogs so this will have to be managed but in return, Flash will shower you with unconditional love and cuddles. We will of course put the successful adopter in touch with the trainer that is currently working with Flash.
As he will be an only dog he will need a home where his new owner is not away for long periods of time. Flash is great in the car so is looking for an active home that can take him for daily walks at least twice a day and out in the car for adventures and to explore new quiet environments.
He loves cuddles, pats, human company, long walks and getting out and about.
Flash is great with children of all ages however we feel it best that he goes to a home with older children only and one where an adult will be responsible for exercising and taking him on outings. If you have younger grandchildren or family members that visit from time to time then Flash would be very happy to interact with them.
Flash sits on command and his foster sister has taught him how to use the doggy door.
Of course like all of our animals Flash must go to a home where he is permitted inside at all times and be allowed to sit with you on the couch.
Flash must sleep inside at night in a warm area of the home preferably the bedroom as this is where he is used to sleeping on his own bed
A home with a garden is preferable. Flash is not suitable for apartment or inner city living and needs a home in a quieter area for his walks
After only a few weeks in foster care Flash is mostly house-trained but his new owner would need to be prepared to set him up to succeed in his new environment.
Flash is not suitable for a home with cats or pocket pets.
If you would like to meet Flash Gordon please send us an email with as much detail as possible on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your location, contact number, your other pets if any, family members, lifestyle, training, exercise, and outings you will provide Flash how often Flash would be alone, where he will have access in the home and where he would sleep of a night, where Flash would go if you went away and could not take him with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide.
