Romeo is an absolute delight! He is a very active and smart puppy with energy to burn. He is a lovely boy, loves to play, mostly with his big foster brother running around. He likes his toys, however, loves the company of his human and other dog the most. He is cheeky and funny with a touch of attitude. He loves bare feet and hands and therefore, watch out for those pin teeth! He adapts extremely well to routine. This little guy will make you laugh everyday!

DOG SOCIALIZATION

Romeo has been introduced to an adult mastiff, an adult Labrador, heelers and kittens. He is intrigued by all and wants to play. He does not have any fear thus far. He is very nippy so any dog or cat will need a lot of tolerance in his early teething stage. If they are not tolerant, do not apply. He adores his older foster brother and people. He loves teenage kids but not recommenced to younger children who will find his teething habits quite painful. A responsible family with older children or a person who will be his best buddy and spend quality time with him would be recommended.

WALKS – LEAD EXPERIENCE

Romeo has had some short stints on a lead and does not seem to mind a collar. He will require puppy school and training and patience on a lead. Like any puppy, he will need patience and training as he grows.

ENRICHMENT

Romeo absolutely loves to play and run which he needs a lot of to burn his energy. He is ACTIVE! He wants to run and chase and loves human play and loves his doggy companion. He will also entertain himself with his toys including soft squeaky teddies for short stints and then enjoys his naps for an hour or so after in his crate. He loves to be outside with his foster brother or inside with his human/s. He tends to become bored with toys after a while and heads for your feet, shoes and socks! So, the more chew toys the better! He loves company and I feel another dog that is VERY TOLERANT of a puppy will be suitable or a family with no pets that has a lot of time to put into him. A family who is active and a medium to large backyard/property will also be ideal as Romeo is going to be a big cuddly boy!

VISITORS

Romeo LOVES visitors! Visitors means attention and cuddles and more people to play with and make it all about him! Again, small children are not recommended as his teething is right on the go right now and they do hurt .

INSIDE

Romeo has spent a lot of time inside and outside playing with his foster brother (Red Heeler) whom he adores. He likes to get up at around 7am and apart from a couple of day time naps, he likes to play up until around 9pm. He has not been destructive with his toys, even when left for a few hours or half a day on his playpen/crate. Now remeber this boy is a staffy puppy so he will chew things he should not if unsupervised.

OUTSIDE

Romeo likes being outside playing with his foster brother. PLEASE KEEP PLANTS and any nasties out of his way as he is a normal and curious pup who likes to explore! He has not been left outside on his own and has not slept outside due to him coming into our care during the bitterly cold winter.

SLEEPING HABITS

Romeo was a bit fussy in his first few nights resulting in him only settling when sleeping with his foster mummy and foster brother on her bed in a small carry crate where he feels secure, however, we believe he would settle quite well now in a larger crate in another room. He has been tested with this and found he cries for a few minutes and then settles for a sleep inside the crate. He likes to have a few hours of play and then about an hours’ nap in between during the day

TRAVELLING IN THE CAR

Romeo has travelled in the car a few times to the vet and to visit friends. He has travelled in his warm and secure puppy carry crate which he is not real happy about, however will sit or lay down in there on the trip with a blanket and often go to sleep.

FOOD

Romeo has enjoyed Chicken Recipe puppy kibble which has been softened with warm water to make easy chewing. He is gradually starting to chew the dry food on its own. He has a good handful three to four times a day. He may not eat it the minute you put it down, however he will eat.

IDEAL HOME

Please take good note of this section. Romeo is going to be quite a chunky dog and will be active. Ideally his family will need to take him on at least one good walk per day and have a large yard where he can run and play. He will require proper puppy training and continued training following that. We prefer someone with good knowledge and /or experience in this type of breed and will commit to bringing out the best in him as a good family dog or best buddy that remains social with dogs and humans. If you cannot commit to this, Romeo is not for you. You must be able to handle a bulky, chunky staffy and ongoing socialization with other dogs and good training is an absolute must. Another dog would be great to help keep Romeo active too. However, the dog must be tolerant of a nips and puppy play and we are only seeking a tolerant female in the current residence

ADOPTION CRITERIA

An active family/couple/owner who understands that Romeo will not be a puppy for long and will require regular exercise, inclusion in your daily routines. He needs a good diet, ongoing training and a good understanding of his breed. A family or couple with a large and secure yard with grass and a shady area. He is relying on you to help him with training so that you both can enjoy a happily ever after! He is relying on you to provide a safe and loving home for the next 15 years or more of his life. He is relying on your commitment, patience and unconditional love. If you have this, Romeo is going to be one amazing family member!

Adoption Requirements

- Children over the age of 12 who are dog savvy

- A nice size yard with secure fences and shade and shelter
- Ongoing puppy school to help further his training and for socialisation
-Daily walks are a must (shorts walks while he is still a puppy)
-If you have a dog they must be female. The current resident dog must be of a temperament that can adapt to puppy development, and she must be well socialised with other dogs (do not apply if your dog has not been socialised recently)
-New family must understand that puppies take time to settle and all things puppy, including crying, chewing and training is a must.)
- Romeo must be able to sleep inside during the colder months and have access to a cool area during summer as Staffys do not cope in the heat very well
American Staffies do require ongoing socialisation with dogs throughout their lives { THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT} and if you dont continue to introduce them during these development months they can end up very dogg reactive so we are seeking a home that are committed to ensuring that Romeo Boy is absolutely apart of alot of interactive dogs worlds forever
