About Charli
Charli is 2.5 years old and is very confused as to why she is now in the pound, alone and afraid, the pound is a scary place, it is full of dogs and Charli’s time is up, we need to get her out ASAP!
Charli is a sweet, sensitive little girl that is looking for a quiet home that can help her to come out of her shell. Charli flinches at loud noises, sudden movements and is generally very worried in the pound about her surroundings and what is next. Despite how unsure she is, Charli is desperate to love and be loved, she will approach people for a soft little cuddle and is won over with treats and gentle pats, she then melts into your lap and her true cuddly nature shines through. It will not take Charli long to come out of her shell in her new home, she just needs someone willing to build her trust and confidence up over time.
Once Charli trusts her people, she becomes very attached to them and is your typical German Shadow, she wants to follow you around everywhere and be by your side. Charli would love a home where she is invited inside to sleep by her new owner’s feet and cuddle up on the couch. Charli gets upset when she is left alone for long periods of time and is looking for a home where someone is home most of the time. Charli is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 8 years old.
Charli hasn’t been receiving any exercise at all lately, she pulls on the lead initially when out for a walk however settles nicely after the initial excitement has worn off. Charli is very clever and knows her basic commands, she is very attentive, especially for a treat and has great focus, and decent recall even under distraction. Charli would benefit from further training to fine-tune her skills and to help build her confidence in different settings.
Charli is very conflicted with other dogs, she has always lives with another dog however due to them feeding off each other’s negative behaviours and anxiety we have decided to split them up. Charli is much better behaved when she is 1 on 1 with her handler and able to make decisions for herself about how to react.
Charli is very unsure what to do when faced with new dogs, she doesn’t have an outwardly over the top reaction but when up close, she will snap at them to warn them away. Charli would be happiest keeping her distance from other dogs for the time being, working on feeling comfortable and relaxed at a distance is the first goal for Charli and her new owner. For now, Charli needs to be the only dog in her new home, she is not suited to a home with cats or other small pets.
Charli is the sweetest little girl that is desperate for someone to love her and to show her the guidance and affection she has been missing out on. Beautiful on the inside and outside, anyone who opens their heart to this gorgeous girl will be given endless love and companionship, she is going to make an incredible best friend for the right person.
Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
