About Tess
Tess is a gorgeous girl who has had quite a few bad experiences in life. She is a vivacious lady who really enjoys her runs in the park and at the beach, she lives to stretch her legs so will need a home with owners ready and willing to take her out for good walks both on lead and off lead for fun excursions.
Tess is active for her age on walks but at home she is relaxed and chilled out and happy to curl up for a snooze or potter around the house quietly. She is good with other small dogs as long as they do not annoy her so if there’s another dog in the home, they should be small, easy going and friendly. Whilst Tess is ok with other small dogs, she would also be happy as a single dog as she is not really a player with other dogs. Tess is not keen on cats or large dogs, so a home without these is needed.
Whilst Tess is fine to be left at home for a few hours, she would really like her family to be around a lot of the time for company, so WFH people or part timers who are active would be ideal.
Tess can still be a little shy and nervous around new people so patient adult owners are a must. She does need her personal space, her bed is her own safe haven and she can get protective of it. If startled or pushed to do something she doesn’t want to do she may nip.
Tess is toilet trained , not vocal and weighs approx 7kg. She is a fussy eater so needs good quality cooked food.
Tess has been struggling with on lead aggression towards other dogs, she is naturally a slightly dominant girl.
The right home for Tess will have the following:
Owners that have experience with lead aggression and are willing and able to continue her on lead training, there are just some dogs she just doesn’t seem to like when out walking.
An adult home, as Tess can nip as a protection mechanism if she feels threatened
Owners who have a little yard she can access to toilet and time to spend at home with her
Owners that understand that Tess is a dog that will improve over time but may always have some behaviours that present challenges

Adoption details
Animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention / and also FIV tested for cats where possible. They are not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). Please email par.adoptions@gmail.com if you would like further information.
Dogs and cats are rehomed on two weeks trial to ensure that both the person adopting them and the rescuer are satisfied that the dog / cat / animal is happy and adapting well to their new home and this can be extended on request
Please be aware that Paws and Recover is run by volunteers who also work. We endeavour to answer enquires as quickly as possible. Some animals will inevitably be very popular and will generate many enquires. Where there is a high volume of enquires received, it will be our priority to contact those that best fit the requirements of the animal. This may mean that it is not possible for all enquires to be answered. Please keep an eye on the website for all updates.
Providing quality information as a part of your enquiry including information about your home environment, family, work hours, other pets and what you are looking for in a companion animal along with what you can offer one will greatly assist.
Please always provide a contact phone number as a part of your enquiry.
