Everyone who meets Nellie is immediately drawn in by her affectionate, extroverted personality. She is playful, curious, loving, adorable and confident.

Nellie was born with an eyelid deformity which caused her to have limited sight, pain and resulted in infection as a young kitten. Despite our best efforts to preserve the little sight she had, Nellie recently had both her eyes removed for the sake of a comfortable life in the future.

She has no idea she’s disabled. She runs around the house (mostly) collision-free with a map of its layout in her head. She can navigate couches, windowsills, a multi-level cat tower, beds, tables and any other object in her environment with no qualms whatsoever. She’s even able to track and playfully “hunt” her cat friends by the tiny sounds they make as they walk.

Playfulness is Nellie’s defining quality. Ever since she was a little kitten she’s had a penchant for attacking feet, chasing toys that make noise, engaging other cats in rough and tumble play and seizing the opportunity to play fight with your hands when you thought you were just having a nice, quiet snuggle session with her. For this reason, Nellie would be best suited to a home with other cats who enjoy playing as much as she does.

Nellie’s silky soft coat makes her impossible not to cuddle. She’s been handled a lot since she was small and is very affectionate and tolerant as a result. If she especially likes you, she’ll find you while you’re sitting down and soak up your pats as she falls asleep on your lap. She’ll happily join you in bed too.
