About Raya
*In foster care in Newtown, Sydney*
Kelpie cross Raya has the sweetest temperament, and while still a little shy she's growing in confidence every day! With so much love to give, she always has a cheeky smile at the ready and can't resist shuffling in for a snuggle :)
Still a young girl, Raya is full of playful puppy energy! When learning to play catch she'd faithfully chase the ball - but instead of bringing it back to her foster carer, she'd take it to the resident dog to encourage him to join in :) Raya is very clever and has already learnt basic commands such as sit, wait, and come, in addition to being toilet trained.
Raya was the smallest of her litter and has some scarring, which has healed fine. Her left eye does have some permanent damage, leaving her with approximately 75% vision, but it doesn't stop her living her life to the full.
Like all Maggie's pets, Raya is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... would be a house with a secure yard and lots of enrichment toys.
I'd be perfectly happy as your only dog, or as a companion to another calm dog similar in size to me, who can help me become my best self. Right now I can be a bit territorial with other dogs to protect my space and humans, so I'm definitely looking forward to having more training and socialisation in my new home!
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I'm mostly happy to just lounge around and snuggle on my human's lap or play with my toys at home, but daily walks are a must so I can let my kelpie spirit fly!
I like long walks best, and have been practicing off leash. When I'm feeling confident around other dogs I also love to play chase and zoomies with them! If you need to drive me to the dog park please note that I can get a little motion sick on occasion, but I'm sure I'll get used to being in a car over time.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I've been really gentle when meeting met kids of all ages - but I do have lots of energy and am stronger than I look, so children of at least school age might be the best match for me.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I love calm, friendly dogs who are around my own size and would enjoy teaching me the ropes! My exposure to cats is limited, but I've been known to be patient with kittens playing with my tail :)

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
