About Billy
Hello lovelies, I'm Billy! I'm a very affectionate boy looking for my forever home, having overcome a tumultuous past. I was found outside a rural property, after living rough in the area for at least a year. After realising I was already desexed (although not microchipped!), SCA knew I must have had a home at some point and put the call out to find my people. In the meantime, I was sent straight to the vet for a health check, when my FIV test was found to be positive. Sadly after confirmation of my FIV status, my original owners opted to relinquish me. But that's ok, because I know that there's a purrfect family out there that will give me all the love and care that I deserve!
Let me tell you about me. My foster mum says I'm a loving boy that purrs constantly and absolutely adores receiving pats. I am incredibly trusting too and I will actually roll over so you can rub my belly. I have a gloriously thick, medium length coat, so it's a good thing I adore a brush. 😉 A great way for us to bond, I think. My ideal home is a peaceful environment where I can be kept stress-free, though I have a knack for becoming comfortable in most environments very quickly. As I'm untested with dogs and kids, it's probably best that I'm an only pet and any children are older. Although I'm FIV positive, I have been given a thorough vet check and have been declared a healthy boy, hooray! I am desexed, microchipped, and I'm up to date with all my vaccinations and flea/tick/worm prevention.
Are you looking for that special kitty to win your heart? That's me and I can't wait to meet you!
Medical notes
I tested POSITIVE for FIV (negative for FeLV). I need to be kept as an inside cat only to keep me (and the wildlife!) safe and healthy.
I am currently a very healthy boy, but due to my diagnosis I will need to be kept in a stress free environment, fed a high quality diet and proper dental care, and receive regular vet visits to ensure that I stay that way!
New research has shown that FIV-positive cats are in fact very adoptable, and can live the same lifespan as an FIV-negative cat. This research has also debunked the myth that FIV-positive cats cannot safely live with non-infected cats.
