About Bruiser
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE.
NAME: Bruiser
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Dobermann
BREED TRAITS: Dobermanns are athletic, intelligent, alert and loyal. Bred originally as a guard dog they are also a wonderful family companion. Dobermanns love to be a part of their family and want to be close to those they love. They don't like to be left alone and are sensitive to cold weather. As a breed they are very active and need mental workouts too so keeping them busy can be a challenge.
*********************************************************************************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, eager to please, friendly, obedient, active and playful pretty much sums Bruiser up. He has a great nature and will make a wonderful companion for his new owner.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Bruiser enjoys playing tug and fetch and loves to go for walks and runs on the beach. He also enjoys attention from his people and is very well behaved.
ENDEARING FEATURES: He's very well trained and just a delight to have around.
OTHER ANIMALS: Bruiser gets on well with the other dog in his foster home so should be fine to live with another friendly dog after gentle introduction. He takes a bit too much interest in smaller animals like cats and rabbits so will need a dog-only home.
HEALTH: For his age Bruiser is in good shape. He is still quite active and has no apparent health problems. He does have a little arthritis, which is not surprising, but he is receiving a course of Arthropen to protect his joints going forward and to assist with his movement and general comfort. We would require that his new home continue with this treatment or something similar to give Bruiser a pain free retirement and keep him active for as long as possible.
GENERAL INFO: Bruiser walks fairly well on the lead but does tug at times. He's only ever lived outside which is about to change for him - he loves to be under the aircon in summer and feels the cold in winter. He was allowed in his home a couple of times in bad/hot weather and was clean so we're hopeful that he is housetrained and with time, patience and routine it shouldn't be a problem. He barks if someone is at the door and knows lots of commands. For a large dog he is very gentle and therefore certainly belies his name.
ESSENTIALS for Bruiser
** A dog-experienced, loving home where someone is there for most of the day or can take him with them when they go out - he loves car rides. He'd also love a similar aged female medium to large dog to live with.
** He needs good daily exercise, so a walk a day and some activity in the garden will keep him happy.
** Bruiser needs a good sized well fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** Bruiser loves to be with his people so needs to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
Bruiser has not lived with young children so he would be best suited to an adult only home or with teenage children who will be sensitive to his needs.
If Bruiser sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
