About Rolex ~ 2yr Old Poodle X(On Trial 11/9/22)
Am I cute or what!? Meet Rolex, a two-year-old, Poodle X. Rolex is full of fun. He loves walking twice a day for about half an hour each time and loves a game of chasies with your socks. He came to dog rescue because he had been in an apartment by himself most workdays, and his owner surrendered him because she felt he needed more company and stimulation.
He certainly does love people, dogs, and cats too! Rolex was quite fearful when he came into care, but he has really warmed up very well and is such a joy to have. He is very social and if he sees another dog or a person, he is so excited and will want to say hello and have a bit of a gossip and sniff.
Rolex likes to lay on the lounge, but not necessarily on your lap or right up against you. He will lay on the lounge apart from you but gets closer and closer as he has become familiar and confident. Because he has been in an apartment, he does like being inside, so is a good dog to have around the house if you don't mind a shadow. He would sleep on your bed if you let him and loves activities.
The ideal home for Rolex would be one where there is another mature dog who can show him how to be a dog and play outside as well as inside. Ideally there would be more than one adult in the home, and possibly teenage children as he likes a busy life with lots of stimulation. He is a good guard dog whenever he hears the doorbell, but only because he is curious.
Rolex is toilet trained and can sit, stay and stop at the kerb when walking. He is good on the lead but walks quite quickly. He will wait until invited to come inside the door after a walk. He waits for the signal to eat. You could say he has very good manners!
However, please note that when Rolex first came into care, he was scared and confused, and this led him to exhibit some growling and nipping behaviour. This stopped within a week but is likely to occur for the first week or two of his transition to a new home. He needs to be able to dictate his level of contact as he becomes accustomed to a new environment and routines.
Therefore, he is not recommended for families with small children, who may not be able to give him the space he needs for the transition period. But if you are looking for a little pal to love and be loved by, then this may be your perfect match!
For more information on Rolex, please contact his foster carer on their email kathelliott50@hotmail.com. Rolex is in foster care in the Newcastle Region, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
