About Nova 🐀
As a Rescue, our ultimate goal when Rehoming our cats and kittens, is to find them indoor only homes where they will be kept safe from the dangers outside…..but in some cases, where the cats have come in as strays, been in care for quite some time and their response to rehabilitation is extremely slow, we find ourselves wondering if that is really the sort of life they truly want.
Nova entered our Rescue back in December 2021 and we estimated her age to be 7wks….she was 1 of 18 kittens to arrive from a property where up to that point, had no human contact. She was extremely scared, and her reaction to being handled by humans was reciprocated by swiping and hissing at her carers. Whilst this response can be quite normal for many stray kittens in the first couple of weeks, Nova stood her ground and continued to fight against her carers efforts of affection 😢
In the 9mths she’s been in care, Nova has most certainly had moments where she will tolerate being touched, and even shown signs of actually enjoying it, but these moments are not consistent and her mood can change from one hour to the next. She is still extremely flighty with humans moving about the house or loud noises, but very comfortable around other cats.
Nova has now been given access to her carers outdoor cat enclosure as opposed to being indoor only, and she is now spending most of her time out there which seems to be where she feels safest. This has got us thinking about what sort of home she would prefer…..
We feel she would be an absolute gem as a working barn cat. Having the freedom of doing her own thing on a property, factory or grain store by day, and patrolling the property against 🐀 by night, avoiding the need for traps and harmful pesticides….
In return, she would require regular meals, fresh water, appropriate shelter and of course, health care when needed. There has also been many situations where ‘barn cats’ have learnt to love affection from humans, but allowed to do that in their own time.
If you’ve been looking for a working cat to help with a rodent issue on your property/farm, factory or grain store, we would love to hear from you 🥰

Adoption details
If you would like to express interest in adopting, we ask that you send through some info about yourself, your family and home, if you rent or own (rental agreement required if renting and rates notice required if you own) and what you can offer this gorgeous baby. Our aim is to find the best homes for our babies, not necessarily first in best dressed, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest.
Once we have received your email outlining the above, those who we feel may be suitable, will be sent an Adoption Questionnaire to complete. Your enquiry will then be passed onto the appropriate carer and successful applicants will be contacted via phone.
