About Chippy
I’m Chippy, I came into care as an unwanted stray i was taken to a local vet clinic it was very clear that my leg was in bad shape. I was checked over and it was confirmed i had a bad break and needed surgery to repair the broken bone. Less than a week later my other back leg fractured, luckily the way my leg had fractured, it will heal on its own without intervention.
I was previously wary when meeting new people, but I’ve learnt that I don’t need to be scared. I believe everyone is my new best friend when I meet them. I love being close to people and getting bulk affection or just laying next to you. I’d make the perfect companion for someone who is home more often than not.
I am great around other dogs.I would be best suited to a home with another dog to help me socialise and burn off all my energy. I am great with small dogs, but sometimes forget my size and tend to sit on them. The Vet has given me the all clear to jump, frolic and play chase.
I have no issues with cats, although if they run I do think it’s a game of chase. I did show some signs of food aggression, but my foster mum worked on this with me and it’s not happening anymore.
I spend most of my time indoors while someone is home, otherwise I spend my time exploring the yard. I don’t indicate that I need to go to the toilet whilst inside, but my foster family are vigilant at regularly taking me outside to avoid any mistakes.
I am doing well with my basic training I have mastered sit and drop and I’m pretty good on the lead too. “Stay” is a bit hard to master yet so I’m still working on that. I’m very intelligent, but get easily distracted so will need persistence with my training.
I am beautifully trained for my night time routine and head to my crate as soon as I’m told “Bed”.
Medical notes
Due to my injuries I mustn’t engage in games of chase or lots of jumping to avoid extra stress on my legs.
