Tessa

The absolutely gorgeous, cuddly and loveable Tess is now seeking her forever home. She loves to be part of the family, snuggle on the couch, be close and wherever you go she loves to follow you even into the bathroom and shakes your hand ??
Tessa is a 5 year old Golden Labrador and weighs in at 41.7kg She will absolutely melt your heart and become your new best friend.
Tessa is an indoor dog all the way and has been while with us for nearly 5 months now so if you cannot have her living mostly indoors please do not apply
This divine girl loves her hoomans to pieces especially the kids
Tessa is always happy to see you and loves to follow you around the backyard exploring her surroundings as well as being inside. As long as you are not far out of sight she is happy and can also be left alone for periods of time as long as she has plenty of food, water and a comfy couch with a toy or two she is happy. Tessa has been using a doggy door and takes herself out to the toilet.
Tess arrived into rescue from a rural pound pregnant and after a few weeks gave birth to her beautiful girls
Her babies have now all been adopted to their new forever homes and it now Tessa's turn to find her forever family

OBEDIENCE
Tessa requires lead training as she can be very strong when excited
Tessa is a very clever and sweet girl and she will blossom into an amazing family member. She enjoys exploring her surroundings and going on walks but can be at times strong on the lead and pull but when her name is mentioned can relax and walk beside you. She is a great listener and knows her name ?
She loves running around the backyard and also enjoys sitting on the couch and snuggling. Tessa knows how to sit shake hands, lay down on command and is rewarded for great listening ?
ENRICHMENT
Tessa loves laying on the couch with a snuggly blanket or right beside a family member..
She isn't an overly active dog but enjoys her walks and exploring back yard and being near family. As long as a family member is nearby she is happy or she will look for you. She loves a good pat and a rub behind the ears and under her chin.
SLEEPING
Tessa loves to lay on the couch and have a good snooze. She will also lay beside your bed and sleep. During the day Tessa goes between the inside of family home and laying on an outside dog bed undercover. She loves company.
SOCIALISATION
Tessa loves coming inside and checking what the family is up to. She loves sitting on the couch and getting lots of attention and cuddles. She really just wants to be a part of everything her family does. Tessa has been part of a family that consists of adult and children Tess has been inquisitive of the cats but both seem to avoid each other. but when they run Tess will sometimes chase them so probably safer in a cat free homeTess has also been the incredible Mumma to the 3 adorable Labrador puppies and doted on them every minute ?
Now when it comes to other dogs Tessa does show some reactivity while on walks and can be strong on lead. We did test her with another dog and found in experienced hands she did settle and was very calm and not concerned as the other dog walked past so we feel she does have potential to in some time interact with others BUT at this stage Tessa is defiantly an only dog home and if a neighbours dog barks at through the fence at her she will absolutely bark back
While out on walks to get the best out of Tessa when seeing another dog she requires an experienced handler who can understand her body language to make it a pleasurable walk
FOOD
Tessa has been having Black Hawk Original Adult Rice and Lamb dry food. She has enjoyed her meals morning and night and grazes throughout the day if she hasn't finished her food.
HYGIENE
Tessa has a beautiful soft golden coat that will need a gentle brush and occasional bath to keep her nice and clean and shiny
TRAVEL/CAR
Tessa travels fine in the car. She has travelled to Vet appointments. School pick ups and drop offs. She has even enjoyed the occasional drive thru at McDonald's and received all the attention.
MEDICAL
Tessa has had off and on skin allergies that come and go which is typical in breed
These affect her tummy and feet and she will require vet visits for medication when it flares up
IDEAL HOME
Decent size backyard with grass for her to run and play on with secure fences and shelter.
Ongoing lead training as she is a strong girl and can at times pull on the lead and for socialisation.
Daily walks and Tessa will thrive and love these but again we ask for an experienced handler when waking with other dogs
Children of all ages are a great home for Tessa
A home where Tessa is allowed inside the home with outdoor access
A home where Tessa will be a part of the family and treated as a loved member
