About Surma
Surma is a fantastic little dog. He is full of life and love and happiness after his really rough start in life.
Surma is a desexed male staffy (possibly crossbred), he is microchipped and is about 9 months old. (See medical notes re: his vax status please)
We don't know what his life was like up until he was gutlessly abandoned at the front of the pound afterhours and then was taken in by us. It became quickly apparent he wasn't well, and we rushed him to the vets late at night. He had Parvovirus. Two long weeks in hospital feeling like absolute death and 2 more in quarantine care at home, he recovered well and now exudes the gratefulness he has for having been given the chance to be treated, and to survive.
Surma is still learning things like not to jump up on people, and to sit and stay etc.
He is a smart and attentive dog that connects with you and wants to learn. He has good recall and loves human company, he will make a loyal and wonderful companion to someone willing to make best friends with him.
Surma is good with other dogs and cats. He is great with children (All children should be supervised with dogs for the safety of both).
He will make a wonderful family dog.
Being under a year of age still, and quite puppy-like and mischievous, he is best suited to a home where he wont be left alone for hours at a time. Secure fencing is a must, and he needs to be included in family indoor life as much as possible. Appropriate toys and exercise are important for him to prevent boredom and provide enrichment.
Medical notes
Surma had Parvovirus when he came into care and has fully recovered after a lengthy stay in hospital and then home quarantine care. On discussion with the vet he does not need a vaccination against Parvo for about a year (Parvo can give immunity for up to 7 years), although if you would like him to be vaccinated against Distemper and Infectious Hepatitis, we can organise a c3 vaccine.
