About Toby
This lovely little man has begun the search for his best friend!
Toby is true to the Chihuahua breed; full of expression, loyal, quirky, comical, entertaining, and concerned.
He would love to find himself a quieter kind of home, somewhere which is safe and secure where he can learn and adapt to a reliable daily routine. Toby is a friendly and person orientated boy, and just loves hanging out with human friends.
Toby will be best suited to a home where there may be another friendly smaller breed dog, however, he would also do well being the only fur-child. Toby has met some of our adoptable cats and doesnt mind them too much!
Toby's adoption fee helps to cover his routine and necessary health care treatments. He will go to his new home desexed, microchipped, up to date with annual vaccinations, flea, heartworm and worm treatments. Toby has also had a Dental Procedure & some tooth extractions whilst with us. He is an absolutely tiny little lad, weighing in at just 2.7kgs.
Medical notes
Toby is what we would consider a special needs boy, as from coming into care this week it appears as though he has had a rough time lately.
Toby has also had a Dental Procedure & some tooth extractions whilst with us, and will need monitoring in the future on his oral health and may require further work.
Tobys' coat and overall body condition are not the best, and he would benefit greatly from being on a prescription diet to get his fur back to optimal health as well as a little bit more weight.
We have gotten Toby up to date with his parasitic treatments, which will need to continue on into the future at regular intervals. Not being up to date with these treatments has also contributed to his overall body condition and patchy fur.
Tobys' hips and hind legs are lacking muscle condition and he has luxation in both patellas (kneecaps), meaning that they wobble around a bit whilst he is walking and is very common in tiny Chihuahuas.
This can be related to arthritis, and we have started Toby on an arthritic supplement called 4cyte to aid in any discomfort he may feel. This hasn't appeared to stop Toby from being able to navigate around, use stairs, or race around like a puppy!
