About Bucks
Bucks know’s he’s living the good life in foster care. His foster carer is very proud of this gentle easy boy.
Bucks is a city dog, living in a high rise apartment but with lots of space for his zoomies and a large balcony to relax in. He enjoys the busy city streets with lots of humans to stop and say hello too. Bucks is always available for a cuddle and a chat about your day. Bucks gets two walks each day. A shorter on in the morning before work and a longer adventure after work. Otherwise he is happy to snooze on his bed while his foster carer works from home.
Bucks has learnt to spend some alone time too, he is now OK being left for a few hours. He will be very excited when he hears you at the front door, even if you just popped out to put the garbage out. You’ve been gone so long ! I missed you !
Bucks also loves having humans visit him is his home. He will welcome them as old friends and dote on them.
Bucks was originally adopted almost two years ago but came back into our care when the owners personal circumstances changed and he knew he couldn’t offer Bucks the home he deserved any more. Bucks had lost some condition and has a history of food sensitivities. After a few weeks of love and care in fostercare he has put on weight, got some regrowth of his shiny bum and is thriving on a relatively normal diet.
In the home, Bucks is a smart cookie. He knows basic commands and has mastered the paw shake. Bucks also does stairs like a pro. Bucks is very fond of his food so some careful management is required so he doesnt snaffle your sandwich when you leave it unattended.
On his walks, Bucks prefers to meet the humans rather than other dogs. He is fine for a quick sniff and then move on when he meets polite medium and larger dogs. He tries to avoid those little yappy things. They annoy him, don't blame him. He also doesnt like off lead dogs zooming around him.
Bucks will entertain his new family. He loves to engage in conversation with you. He likes when you talk to him and he will often reply with his own opinion in the form of a ear or eye movement, a tilt of his head, yawn or gentle bark. You will smile each time he takes a drink with his long nose bending on the lip of the bowl.
Bucks is happy for his cuddles and scratches but prefers to be left alone on his bed, particularly when he is having one of his animated dreams. You wonder what he dreams about, chasing a rabbit ? Maybe having a delicious dinner ?
Bucks, with his sparkling eyes and sleek coat is an engaging boy. He is your sweet and gentle partner in life.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
