About Ditto
Ditto- a 12 kg cattle dog, who has been in our care for over two years. In all that time, she's only had one meet and greet. You might be wondering, "How could that be?"
Ditto’s story begins in a difficult place—a hoarding situation where she lived with over 50 other dogs. In March 2022, Ditto arrived at our rescue alongside her pregnant sister, Hope. Covered in fleas, worms, and full of fear, both girls were terrified of human interaction. Shortly after their arrival, Hope gave birth to six beautiful puppies, and Ditto was soon discovered to be pregnant as well. On Good Friday 2022, Ditto went into labor and, after complications, had an emergency c-section that saved three of her four pups. This marked the beginning of Ditto’s journey into a new life as a mother to her "Three Musketeers"—Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. All three of her sons have now been adopted.
The transition from a life of neglect to one of love and care was overwhelming for Ditto. At first, she was terrified of us—backing away from any human touch. But slowly, she began to trust. Week by week, Ditto made small steps: first letting us touch her, then allowing us into her space, and finally, discovering the joy of a belly rub.
Today, Ditto is the queen of her foster carers pack. She loves cuddles, belly rubs, and will even paw you to ask for more attention. Treats have become a favorite, and she rewards with affectionate bumps and the occasional kiss. Recently, she had her first bath with a groomer and was a perfect angel. Ditto has also grown fond of her carers nieces and enjoys road trips, especially when she can use the center console as a headrest.
Despite all the progress she has made, Ditto is still fearful of strangers. Her fear presents as a flight response—never aggression—and this has made finding her a forever home challenging. Potential adopters often seek an instant bond, but Ditto needs time and patience to build trust.
Ditto would be the perfect companion for someone who understands that true love takes time to blossom. With patience and understanding, Ditto will give you 100% of her love and devotion. If you're the special person who can offer Ditto the home she deserves, please apply below to meet this sweet girl. She’s ready to be your loyal friend, one belly rub at a time.
