Mikey is a lovable goofball who will shower you with affection and will give his adopted human/s a lifetime of loyalty. He is looking for his adventure buddy, a fitness friend and a devoted partner. He is ready to get busy for anything you may want to do and is happy to lead the way. As a young dog, he sometimes needs his leader’s reassurance and will stick close to you. He is happy to lie on you when watching TV and loves a soft, warm bed. Mikey is dedicated to any activity at hand, even his sleeping and sleeps heavily through the night.
He lives well with his canine friends, a geriatric 40kg female and a 5kg male fluffy. Mikey needs mindful introductions to new dogs, as he is unsure if they run at his face or get bossy. Until he gets his confidence, dog parks may be too confronting for him and therefore a thing of the future. Mikey himself is very polite. Although Mikey can be dog shy, if he is going to be at home alone, he would prefer to have a non-dominant doggie friend for company.
Mikey is an excellent traveler and loves a car ride. He walks well on the lead and is getting better at straight lines. He comes, sits, drops, waits and is working on “leave it” as all wildlife is very interesting. He is happy to be the last dog to be given his dinner and waits with his tail wagging exuberantly. He doesn’t appear to be worried about sharing resources and doesn’t try to steal them from others. Mikey is toilet trained.
Mikey would be best with 5-6 foot fences, as even though he hasn’t attempted to escape, it is obvious that he could clear small buildings in a single bound. I would suggest that if Mikey is to be around farm animals, then there will be some additional training required keep him safe, and probably no pocket pets. Due to his size, Mikey would be best suited to teenagers.
