Tony
Stumpy little legs and a zest for life!
Tony is coming along in leaps and bounds while in care.
Tony is a mixed breed puppy. potentially a cattle dog mix.
Tony entered care as a very timid/scared little puppy. Over time he has come out of his shell -somewhat. This is due to gentle exposure and managing opening up his world in a safe controlled manner.
Tony takes a lot of his confidence from his fellow foster dogs. When he is introduced to new experiences or people outside of his comfort zone he can be timid, but he is improving. This is something his new family will have to work on in a very sensible manner.
Tony will require ongoing appropriate positive exposure. And will benefit from attending puppy school.
Tony has had 2 vaccinations and will require his final booster when he reaches 16 weeks.
Tony would do well in a household with a good natured female adult dog, but management will be in order as Tony likes to get in the faces of other dogs and can be quite relentless if the household dog doesn’t set good boundaries.
Tony will require a decent sized yard. He will not suit apartment/townhouse courtyard living.
Tony will not suit a home with an elderly dog. Nor with young children.
Tony will need a family who are willing and able to continue his socialisation, learn about how to do so, and also continue his life long training and enrichment needs.
Tony is crate trained and will happily sleep in his crate overnight. He is also familiar with a puppy pen, and happily enjoys his own space when it’s needed.
House/toilet training is coming along. He is still very young, so his adoptive family will need to keep up his outside breaks and reward appropriate toileting.
Tony loves a good game of tug and his squeaky plush toys. Playing with him with these toys and techniques will be a terrific bonding experience and also release a lot of puppy energy!
All in all, Tony will make a terrific dog to anyone that’s willing to put the time in. He’s is very loving, food motivated - which in turn makes him a very trainable little pup with the right influence.
Tony has been in care with cats and loves to harass them.
