About Freddie ~ Bullmastiff ~ Adopted 8/10/22
Are you looking for a big, sweet, chilled out softie, with a bit of dopiness thrown in? Are you
ideally experienced with giant breeds? Then meet Freddie, a 6-year-old purebred bull
mastiff. This lovable 56kg of boof is looking for a new home through no fault of his own.
Freddie has never barked in his life (though he may give the occasional howl if he is being
left out of things!), he doesn’t chew, and is an all-round low maintenance, fairly low energy
guy. He has the softest ears ever and he just wants to lay or sit near you.
Freddie is calm and relaxed, loves to sleep, lean on people and have pats. He loves people of
all ages but particularly men. He is very gentle and kind with small animals like cats and
rabbits. Don’t tell Freddie we told you this – but he even has a few teddy bears he likes to
suck on.
Freddie would suit being matched with a female dog as he’s got a couple of girlfriends - a
schnauzer, two boxers and a German shepherd. He plays beautifully with them. He’s very
cruisey when meeting a dog off lead in his yard or theirs.
Freddie is walked using a training harness and he walks well with no pulling. He can look at
dogs across the road and walk on with no problem. However, when dogs get close while he
is on lead he can pull and get a bit ‘bouncy’, and being the size he is, some dogs can react to
Freddie and he will react back (but it sounds bigger coming from him!). He is very trainable
and would benefit from someone confident with giant breeds who could work on this with
him and who is confident managing a strong dog.
Freddie doesn’t jump up and doesn’t lick. But being a big strong dopey guy, he may knock
over small humans so we won’t be looking for applications with young children.
Has a couple of age/ breed related lumps that have been vet checked, and occasionally will
need ear drops in one ear however he has become accustomed to this being done. He is in
beautiful condition.
